America Has A New Idol! The Season 11 Winner Is…

| Filed under: TV NewsAmerican IdolReality TV

American Idol has FINALLY crowned its season 11 winner, after a whopping, record-breaking 132 million votes!!!

Last night on the 2-hour star-studded finale, Phillip Phillips took home the title, with 16 year old Jessica Sanchez not far behind!!

Season ten winner, Scotty McCreery presented the silver microphone trophy to Phil, right before he took the stage to sing his winner's song, Home!

Check out Phil's winning moment — confetti, tears and all — (above)!!!

We really like the song they chose this year for him…definitely not as cheesy as some winners' songs of the past! LOLz!

After the big win, Phil took to his Twitter, tweeting:

Congratulations Phillip!!! And Jessica should be proud of herself, as well!

Idol fans will get the chance to see their favorites LIVE, when Phillip, Jessica and the other top ten contestants soon embark on a multi-city tour, starting July 6 in Detroit!!

And… how long will this karaoke contest go on??? What a joke! It always amazes me how the biggest losers in my office are the ones who watch this rubbish.

Well, the only contestant I had any real interest in seeing original material from in the future didn't even make it to the top 5 so I wasn't exactly biting my nails in anticipation of the winner being announced but, if someone outside of my pick had to win , I'm glad it was Phillip. I could see myself listening to his original stuff and I have a feeling he's not going to let the record label run roughshod over his career and just sing any song they throw at him. He's the only contestant who pretty much did the same thing from beginning to end, was unfazed by judge comments, and stayed true to the kind of music he wants to make. He and 2 or 3 others really seemed to know themselves musically and where they wanted to go, while everyone else was still trying to figure themselves out. It's been a while since someone so unwilling to compromise made it this far in a competition like this. Kudos

Jessica was by far the best vocalist out of the two and she'll end up having the best/longest career in my mind
given that more young girls vote than any other sex or age group- it seemed a given that Phillip would win- and he did- but he was not the best
    ….
just as Jennifer Hudson came in 7th on Idol in 2004 and has been vaulted into superstardome because of her talent, maturity and work ethic,
so shall Jessica's …..if she keeps her head on her shoulders and chooses the same path

lol none of the winners go on to do anything on a superstar level except maybe Kelly Clarkson, and who seriously gives their child the same 1st and last name. Phillip Phillps?!?! Wtf were his parents thinking!?

I'm honestly glad that Phillip won. He stayed true to himself and didn't let the judges or Jimmy Iovine get under his skin and try to change him. I hope that his career works out for him. I really do. I like Jessica too, she has a great voice, but it sounds generic. Today, we live in a dance pop world that is so filled with auto-tune, that is makes artists sounds like complete fools. I bet Jessica will have one hit single and then fade away, not trying to sound mean. People are saying the same thing to her like they said to Pia Toscano when she got voted off last season. But where is she? Never heard a peep out of her. I remember she made a music video for her first single, though. We need music that has essence again. I hope Phillip can bring that back.

Because Jessica didn't win American Idol, that's the reason i will not watch the show anymore. But like Adam Lambert who should've won American idol, not Kris Allen, i believe Jessica will have a great future ahead of her. Good news is that Thalia tweeted that Tommy Mottola, the music executive of Sony Music who made Mariah Carey famous, will produce Jessica's first-ever CD. Which means, Jessica will get a record deal after the competition. After all, Phillip has a sickness, right? Thank goodness Jessica is healthy and OK. Phillip may have won the competition, but he has sickness. Let's just see in the future. I want to buy and listen to Jessica's first-ever album! Excited!

I'm so happy for him. Honestly he deserved it. Jess will have a good career regardless but phillip is an artist. He made songs his own, and he made them great. He can't belt it out like jess but he doesn't need to. I think that if he didn't win that it would take him a lot longer to get his career going, and I feel like he won't sacrifice himself just to put out shitty songs. He's going to do it the phillip phillips style. I was hoping for him or Elise to win and since she got kicked out I think just before or at top 5 I'm glad that he took it. Oh and Tiffany his dad is Phillip Phillips Sr. so blame him for the terrible name =P
