Britney Spears' X Factor Stint Will Be Short-Lived?

X Factor Judges Table Austin Auditions

While her new X Factor mentor role seems to be fitting her just right, it seems Britney Spears won’t be sticking around forever!

Reportedly, the pop princess has only signed on for the show until the world ends for ONE year with her $15 million contract!

A source recently spilled:

"The judge handling Britney's conservatorship wanted to make sure that this wasn't going to be too stressful or grueling for her and that weighed heavily in the negotiations. Britney's doctors felt comfortable with a one season commitment, remember, she is still under a conservatorship, meaning she can't make any business or personal decisions herself.”

Probably a smart move…we definitely wouldn’t want Brit Brit to overwork herself or overpromise and not follow through!

Another insider added:

“Britney's contract does have an option for a second year, but Britney isn't committed under terms of the agreement to come back for another season if she doesn't want to, both sides have to agree to this.”

Better safe than sorry, we suppose??

Britney is already MORE than ready to prove the critics wrong and has been reportedly asking Simon Cowell for tips on how to be the “best judge possible.”

Werk it, gurl!!! We're rooting for you!

Let your haters be your motivators!!!

Where are the updates on her not making it through the first day? Anyways, EVERYONE signs for one year…. ie. Howard Stern, Ellen, etc. They throw a ton of money at someone (more than they would get on a longer term run) and justify it to network heads with free publicity it will create. They're not that concerned with the stars coming back. The starts also like the short term since they feel this will lead to bigger things and don't want to be tied down and held back from their "big comeback".

You are one of her haters, and you know it. HYPOCRITE.

it helped Jennifer Lopez so I think this is a great move for Britney to get back. However, i still think that she should retire. I've been her fan for 10 years now but I feel sorry for her since she started at such a young age and didn't have any time for herself because she was known for practicing for hours every day. Look at Michael and how he ended up. As her fan I only wish her to be happy even if it means no more music from her…

Why did they invit e Demi L. when the promotion seems to just plow over her with all the Britney talk? Actually Demi is such a breath of fresh air. Why not build her up? She's the more exciting of the two. Better personality and looks stunning as well.

"…seems to be fitting her just right." Yeah, walking out on your first day on the job, what a perfect fit. Perez, you're such a moron. Geez, with how you suddenly defend Britney, you'd think she just declared she was gay.

The entire "she doesn't even sing live" thing is so old. Although it may be true, how many of us sing? But when we hear something good, we know it. It's the same thing. Do LA or Simon sing? No… But they have good judgment when it comes to music. Stop focusing on that one thing. She must have been signed (and continued to keep her contract) for a reason. Or they would have dropped her a long time ago.

I don't think Britney is even going to last one season. I predict she's going to go out, voluntarily or involuntarily, in the middle of the auditions a la Cheryl Cole. This gig is so wrong for her. Never mind the fact that she can't sing, she can't even manage her own life and needs a conservator, and she's going to mentor aspiring artists and make crucial decisions that could affect their entire lives? This is not a circus sideshow; bring in a real judge with credentials instead of just name value. As for Demi, a young perspective is a great idea, but as a mentor, what if she gets the Overs? Even in the Boys and Girls categories, there are going to be contestants up to age 30, who may even have more experience than her. Britney and Demi are also hogging all the attention, like it's all about them. This was just a bad idea all the way around, and I hope it ends before Bootcamp.
