Chris Colfer To Strike The Big Screen With Film Debut!

Chris Colfer SBL Film Premiere

We are SO excited for Glee star Chris Colfer’s film debut, Struck By Lightning — a film he not only stars in, but wrote the script as well!

The flick tells the tale of a high school senior Carson Phillips, played by Chris, who gets killed when lightning strikes…leading to a bunch of flashbacks throughout the film!

While Struck By Lightning had its world premiere in April in NYC, it’s recently been reported that it’ll officially hit theaters by late 2012!

The film’s director, Brian Dannelly recently said:

“I really love the material and when I met [Colfer], I thought he was amazing. I thought I could bring something to the film. I like films about underdogs. I like the character that he had written; someone who is strong and trying to figure out his place in the world.”

Dannelly, who also wrote and directed the 2004 Mandy Moore comedy, Saved!, explained that they managed to pull off the film, despite low budget constraints and scheduling issues!

Colfer’s movie was made in just over TWO weeks and filmed when he was on hiatus from Glee!!!

Cray cray!

The production was also able to tie down some pretty big actors, including Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks and Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland!

We can’t wait to see how it all turned out…especially since hearing it got a standing O during its world premiere!

If he wasnt gay, would you be making such a big deal about this guy?

  2. 2

    Who is Chris Golfer?

  3. 3

Can't wait…to not watch. This kid can't act, he plays the same character in this movie as he does that crappy show Glee. Can't wait for him to be completely irrelevant in 2 years.

  4. 4

I will have to remember not to watch it!

Re: downwithgaga – The character he plays in the movie is nothing like the character he plays in Glee, as I've seen both. Stop embarrassing yourself, because it's clear you know nothing about the movie.

so sick of anything, and anyone associated with Glee, and all of their silly film projects. Will this show, and its annoying cast just go away?

He's the Kat Graham of film. I wonder if one of the flashbacks includes his shower scene from Glee where Hilton kept dropping the soap?

Perez, I don't know how often you check this forum but I just wanted you know that I was so surprised when I saw that you used a quote from my "Struck By Lightning" article. Yes, I'm the one who wrote that article you're referring to in your blog; I cannot believe you saw it! =)

It's funny because isn't this story and the preview for it exactly like Glee but in a different way. It's not original, it's been done before

Re: GeneRe: downwithgaga – Lol at you two having a fight over whether or not you have seen Chris Colfer's shitty movie about 'finding himself'. That's all that Glee is about, he could have done a different story. Fkn gays and their 'woe is me who am i where do i belong in this world' bullshit. We all have questions, anxieties, existential angst. Gays need to realise that 'equality' means facing the bullshit like the rest of us. None of us hetero's are protected from bullying, nasty comments, all that kinda shit. Gays wanna be equal? First accept that not everyone likes you, and that they'll talk shit no matter what. The only thing you can't do that we can is marry, but that'll change soon enough with an election coming up. Asking for anything else beyond marriage is asking for something the rest of us don't have, and that is not equality. #rant

Re: heya – The movie is not about "finding himself," and his character isn't gay in it, either. You're embarrassing, too.

Re: heya – ur absolutely right. gays and heteros should face the same b.s. however they dont.

no one has ever looked at u on the street and said "hey FUCK U HETERO!" and no ones has denied you from boy scouts, or church, or marriage, or a potential career bcuz u are straight. so stop comparing apples to oranges. gays arent asking to be seen as special or different. were asking that people dont consider the gay variable of the equation when they are dealing with civil rights and just see us as capable human beings.

honestly….straight people can not understand. how can one understand what its like to starve when they have the worlds largest supply of food?

Actually the character, Carson Phillips, he plays in this film is very different to Kurt from Glee. Chris Colfer is an actor, so Kurt is just a role. He's actually very different to any of the roles he plays.
He wrote this film in high school, during his bullying, and it's about a small town kid trying to go to a Journalism school. A film to inspire all types of teens to be ambitious. Nothing to do with sexuality, Carson Phillips is straight anyway.
Just because Chris Colfer is gay, he should not be typecasted to one type of role. He's also a good writer writing books, a Disney pilot and a 2nd film about a periodic mental asylum. Give the guy more credit because he definetly deserves it. :)
