Johnny Depp Responds To Sign Language Critics!

johnny depp slams sign language critics

Time for the critics to get a 'lil critique from Johnny Depp!

Back when he and Natalie Portman spent their time working on a lil' sign language for Paul McCartney's My Valentine videos, some said their signs could easily be misinterpreted.

They said Natalie was saying "tampon" instead of "appear" and Johnny was actually calling his valentine his "enemy."

And since the videos were clearly being entered in the Sign Language Contest of the Universe, they had be to be 200% correct! No excuses!! Ha!

Well! Word finally got back to ole Johnny!! And according to him:

I had to learn sign language and I was only copying what the guy showed me, so track him down. Apparently, instead of 'love' I might have said, 'murder.' But it was a gas – sign language is apparently very interpretive. It’s all kind of different.

You tell 'em, Johnny!

We kinda felt this was a little blown out of proportion the first time around. At least these celebs gave their time to a worthy cause and brought some awareness to the language of sign!! Gah!

Slow gossip day, Mario(n)? It must be if you're reduced to copying and pasting this non-story. Get off your ass and do something productive today instead of being the lazy, sell-out hack you've turned into.

Perez how would you feel if someone made a video and it was supposed to be in Spanish and there were numerous mistakes in it? You would probably feel upset too. ASL is a language and should be respected. Do some research!

I think Johnny Depp pulled it out very great along with Natalie Portman. For the rest of Deaf Militants. Go to hell. We should applaud these two for effort & recognization in sign language. Actually I could understand what they are saying and we all do make mistakes. There are Deaf Militants out there who are bunch of dumb clowns who need to shut up.

Re: La Garse – Agreed. The copy/paste from the Matt D. site this morning about the new AIDS was posted with comments off. Re: alidance – Bravo! Trained, regular users of ASL should have been used. It's akin to using Caucasians to portray Asians, Native Americans, etc in film. Why "Lefty" Paul resort to actors who are not deaf? Re: Anonymous – Who's a militant? It's common sense. Johnny is getting weirder by the day and Natalie has shamed her family with the "hip" baby out of wedlock crap. She can afford it while millions of young women use celebrities as lifestyle examples and think it's cool, though they can't afford it and need entitlements.

Evey one need to applaud Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman for stepping forth to express a song in ASL. Spread the word, APPLAUD NOT CRITICIZE. NO ONE IS PERFECT, they are not professional certified interpreters, just two famous individuals wishing to express love and words in sign language in the manner they best know how. To show the world a song in sign language using their hands. Yes They TRIED to do it the best they could. Everyone should send them a "Thank you note"
