Now that 3D technology has become a successful gimmick at the box office, Hollywood doesn't even need to make unnecessary sequels to make millions of dollars.
We just heard that Twentieth Century Fox plans on releasing a 3D version of the 1996 hit Independence Day!
Since Titanic 3D made an easy $344 million around the world this spring, we imagine the popular Will Smith blockbuster will do just the same.
Maybe this is just an appetizer for the ID4 sequels we've been hearing about for the last two years or even a test to make sure that the world is still innerested in the franchise at all.
Either way, we bet that White House explosion sequence will look pretty dang cool in 3D when the new version hits theaters on July 3, 2013.
