Nicki Minaj Hot 97

A hundred mothaf**kas can’t tell her nothin'!

After quite the cray cray turn of events at last night’s Hot 97 Summer Jam in NYC, fans were disappointed as Nicki Minaj failed to take the stage!

Though originally scheduled to perform, Nicki’s set was pulled last minute by her big Young Money boss, Lil Wayne, after a DJ flat out DISSED Nicki’s Starships!

At the beginning of the event, DJ Peter Rosenberg blasted:

"I know there are some chicks in here waiting to sing along with Starships later. I'm not talking to y'all now. F–k that bulls–t."

Uh oh! But we LOVE the catchy tune…!!!

After making that comment, Weezy decided to pull his entire Young Money crew from the music fest, to which Nicki tweeted:

"Wow. U n***az just f**ked up history. But the President has spoken. #YMCMB…Had a HELL of a f**king lineup. But we won't b disrespected."

That lineup Mz. Minaj was tweeting about would’ve included Cam'ron, Nas, Lauryn Hill, Beenie Man, Foxy Brown, Tyga, Birdman and Lil Wayne.

Wow, talk about a set we definitely wouldn’t want miss out on!

As for the DJ? He also took to his Twitter, tweeting:

"Last night i said nothing different than I have ever said…it was not a personal dis..it was starships is s**t. WHICH WE ALL KNOW IS TRUE."

Um…NOT true!

He should’ve just kept the chatter to a minimum and played some music that the crowd obviously wanted to hear!

What a bummer!!

What's happening with her back up dancers who murdered and raped two young women ?
Think she would be more concerned about that, than anything else

  2. 2

I'm glad Weezy pulled them out of the line up! Respect over money. I hope that deejay gets fired. I listen to Hot 97, and he's very annoying on air. He just whines.

  3. 3

Starships does suck…but if it makes you feel better, Starships is better than Stupid Hoe. lmao

  4. 4

I don't care if people think that Starships does suck or the DJ's personal opinion. Keep your comments to yourself if the person you're talking about is headlining your own freakin show. If she wasn't headlining the show, then you can say whatever you want. And as Young Money proved, they don't HAVE to show up to do anything they don't want to do and nothing's binding for them to perform. Keep your opinions about her ratchet songs to yourself if you have stake in the game for her performing.

He wasn't lying and he's never been shy about saying it. One DJ doesn't speak for that whole station, it was a shitty move for her not to perform for her fans who paid to see her. I'm guessing she had to sign a contract to perform so now she only set herself up to get sued

  6. 6

she pulled out because of a lame diss? are you serious?

Rappers/Hip Hop artists are so fucking sensitive. They act so tough, but then act like bitches when someone doesn't say something nice, leading to dumb stuff like this and also them shooting one another with their "gats".

Rosenberg is a legend on the radio IMO! Every1 knows that Starships ISN'T Hip Hop. Nicki said so herself!

They should have stayed for the fans and answer back to the guy.

  10. 10

ok so let me see if I have this right………one guy disses ONE song, so 1000's of fans who paid 1000's of dollars to see this concert get dissed…………yeah it all makes sense now…instead of doing it for the fans, you know the ones that buy the records, pay for the tickets, support the artists, they are they one's that should walk away disappointed because Weezy feels this one statement is so dissrespectful he feels the need to exert his "power"…well if I was on of those fans and bought a ticket I wouldn't be a fan today!!

  11. 11

Re: booboo1492 – You said "respect over money" but its the FANS money not the DJ's money……….so ultimately got dissrespected?? Not to mention dissappointed. Those fans went out of their way looked forward to a concert and didnt get what they paid for, over really a stupid comment. Weezy could have overlooked it for the fans, and taken it up next time, said he would never perform or have any of his performers work with this guy again. There are other ways to make a point, but you dont stick it to the fans who had nothing to do with it.

  12. 12

What a bitch. I'd be wicked pissed if I spent money to go see her and she ran away because of some lame dis…

  13. 13

Lesson: Don't waste your money on Nicki Minaj.

  14. 14

It's not even that serious though. Just because a DJ dissed your song, you're not going to perform? One, grow some fucking tough skin. Two, stop being so damn cocky. Still perform even though someone dissed your song. You really shouldn't leave your fans hanging like that. Absolutely ridiculous. Hot 97 is an ignorant station anyway and why do they still continue to do Summer Jam? No one goes to that shit anymore.

Omg ! That was the best thing to happen to the concert. –Ok; here are a couple of points i'd like to mention. - 1. Nikki minaj sucks! 2. The song "starships" is not hip hop. It is a pop song! 3 hot 97 summer jam is a hip hop concert. Shes not hip hop she is s sell out -4 little wayne obviously controls here - 5 she dissapointed all her fans - 6 why would you let s

  16. 16

Sorry, but Starships is quite possible the worst song on the radio, right behind that "here's my number" song. Nicki Minaj is shit, and she can't sing. Keep being a mediocre rapper, bitch.

  17. 17

Why do these celebs insist on being such egotistical fucking sooks! FYI nicki not everyone loves your slutbag music or your fake blimp of an ass!! Get over yourself and harden up and perform for the fans who paid money to see the show!

You know, the Lil Wayne and co. need to learn when to not let their egos dictate their actions. So what if someone, DJ or otherwise dissed a song? You get up and perform and ignore the negativity because a lot of people don't share that one persons opinion. Sorry but my respect for these artists went down. Next time don't let your gos dictate te your actions.

And he's absolutely right. Starships is garbage and her music is not hip hop. BUT! I don't see why in the hell they brought her in as a headliner if they don't think she's hip hop! For ticket sales you say? Well in that case they should've brought in Katy Perry or some shit. I'm not a fan of nicki or her music, but that's fucked up. Not his opinion, the fact that they brought her in as headliner only to talk shit about her on stage before she's suppose to go on. And she should've sucked it up and went out there to perform for her fans that came from out of state, stood in line waiting like a mother fucker, and spent money on those tickets. But I've said it before and I'll mention it again nothing but a bunch of sensitive suckas at YMCMB. HA!

  20. 20

Re: FrmMia2Ibiza – Summer Jam is mostly hip hop/r&b music, so Katy Perry would look really awkward there.

  21. 21

It shouldn't really be a shock that a DJ from Hot 97 would hate "Starships." That song really has no place on a hip-hop/R&B radio station or its festival. It's essentially a "dance pop" song with some rapping sprinkled into it. Even compared to more "pop-sounding" songs from hip-hop artists like Missy Elliott and OutKast, "Starships" is a far cry from hip-hop. Speaking out about the song was still an unprofessional move that Rosenberg shouldn't have made. However, I still think it was a bad move to pull those musicians from the show. If there's one thing that should be clear in the music industry, it's that you should never take your fans for granted. Letting your fans down as an attempt to punish a DJ for badmouthing one of your artists' songs is a risky move that can easily backfire. Fanbases always shrink over time, and pissing people off early in your career is only going to make things worse.

  22. 22

As a person he can have his own opinion, but as a DJ he should keep it to himself. Dissing a worldwide popular and successful artist in front of thousands of people is just disrespectful. Wayne did the right thing by pulling out all of the Young Money artists out of respect for Nicki, and I'm sure those artists would all agree.
