Fleetwood Mac's Bob Welch Commits Suicide

bob welch suicide

Oh wow..

We really can't believe it. This is so devastating.

Fleetwood Mac's former guitarist/vocalist Bob Welch was found dead in his Nashville home Thursday after shooting himself in the chest.

The 66-year-old, who recently suffered from health problems, was found by his wife with a suicide note.

We can't even begin to imagine the grief his wife must be feeling right now.

Our thoughts go out to her and his family.

So sad…end of an era for Fleetwood Mac. I hope he is at peace and Sentimental Lady is giving me goosebumps tonight. He was one of a kind.

This is sad but unbelievably selfish. If he was going to commit suicide the least he could have done was do it somewhere his wife would not be the one to find him. How horrifying for her!

Agreed, but one of the supposed reasons that he DID kill himself was so that he wouldn't be a burden to his wife and family. Apparently he was dealing with health problems (considering his rather toxic chemical past it's likely something stemming from that) and I imagine that whatever was happening was gonna end up leaving his loved ones destitute. Musicians don't have retirement accounts or health plans that go along with their jobs…for the ones that make the big money that's no big deal but when you're at the financial level that Welch was at, any major bump could put your ass on the street pretty damned quick. Not a pleasant thing to be faced with when you're sick and in your 60s. My husband worked with Welch after Fleetwood Mac and he told me that despite Bob's mental quirks and his various "medicinal" habits he was really frugal with his cash and made sure that his $ situation was always a secure one. Things must have become pretty dire for him to do this.. he was shut out of some substantial royalties owed to him by the Macs and sued the band back in the 90s…in fact, there was so much bad blood between the two parties that when FM was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that he was the only former band member that wasn't included..this despite the fact he wrote some of their best songs of the pre-Buckingham/Nicks era.

He had back surgery and was told he would not get better…he would be an invalid and thus burden to his wife, so he took his life. Rumour has it he also had cancer which could have been a reason for the back surgery. He was suffering and did not want his wife to suffer. If he was an invalid I don't think he could travel far enough or at all to be somewhere his wife, his caretaker, not to find him. Look for some facts.

Stevie Nicks is a goat, she couldn't have done it.

Very sad. I wonder why he had to have the spinal surgery in the first place that started this s"#tstorm? Condolences to his wife, friends and family.
