How morbidly sweet.

Amy Winehouse’s father is looking to commemorate his famous daughter in statue form, to be placed somewhere in her beloved Camden Town.

Mitch Winehouse is currently in talks with the Chalk Farm performing arts venue The Roundhouse - the site of Amy’s last concert before her tragic death - about housing her bronzed doppleganger.

Mr. Winehouse recently expressed:

“It will be bronze, lifesize, and on the first-floor balcony next to the Roundhouse bar… What we’d like to have is Amy leaning over the balcony and looking, and perhaps pointing, towards Camden Town from Chalk Farm Road.”

If funding is secured, the statue could be up as soon as 2013.

Amy loved and lived in London’s trendy Camden neighborhood, and her daddums wanted to represent that love by the strategic placement of her memorial totem.

We only hope the statue is VERY tastefully constructed… bronze beings can easly look garish and comical!

I quite liked Amy but I don't think a statue is appropriate, she was never exactly a role model. It kind of gives out the messages that it's fine to put horrible shit in your body until you die, as long as you have a good singing voice.

Whatever did she do to warrant a statue? She abused drugs which is not a good thing to do - full stop - and especially when children looked up to her and wanted to copy her. I realize her parents have lost a much loved daughter, but surely they will not want other children to go the same way as Amy. Surely they can understand that a statue is vastly inappropriate in this case

What's a satue? An Indian curry dish? Strange tribute.

I think it's a great idea she deserves to be immortalized in a statue form since she left great music,it's easy to judge people but it's not fair to judge someone who has already passed away not knowing what she went through so it's really cruel to say she was just a junkie. And already everybody who has self conscience and sense of music knows she was much more than that.
