Matthew McConaughey is SUPER excited to move forward on pet project called Dallas Buyers Club, a true story set in 1980s Texas.
The soon-to-be hitched actor will play Ron Woodroof, a homophobic redneck electrician told to "go home and die" by doctors after contracting HIV.
Sad face … but soon, Ron rebels against The Man.
He smuggles life-saving drugs across the Mexican border, hires a transexual assistant to help jumpstart one of the country's first AIDS support networks.
The native Texan fought spur and saddle for YEARS to fund this project and now things are finally moving forward.
Matt says of the movie:
“It was very tough to get the money for that one, being the subject material… We’ve been really, really close for a long time… There’s momentum right now. Some things I’ve got going on are helping whoever’s financing, going, ‘Oh that’s a better idea now’ … We’re out-enduring some people because we’re staying on it.”
Unfortunately, this means McHOTTaughey won't play JFK in The Butler — we were kind of looking forward to that!
Oh well. Until he gets his own hologram, we guess Mr. McConaughey can only star in one movie at a time, LOLz!!
Dallas Buyers Club is a story that needs to be told and we're excited to see how one of our favorite actors handles the challenge!
For now, we'll settle for watching him half-naked in Magic Mike!! Yes!!
