Carrie Underwood Loves The Gays, Ya’ll!

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayPolitikInspirationCarrie UnderwoodWedding WaltzLGBT

And she’s a good Christian girl!

The 2012 double CMT award winner and America’s country sugarrush Carrie Underwood has publically come out in support of marriage equality!!

Carrie recently expressed:

"As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love, and want to marry… I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.

Above all, God wanted us to love others. It's not about setting rules, or [saying] 'everyone has to be like me'. No. We're all different. That's what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It's not up to me to judge anybody."

Yes yes yes!! And another one bites the tolerance dust!!

Carrie will obviously upset some of her more conservative fan-base with her respectful attitude towards those who wish to marry their beloveds, but her statement will also hopefully serve as a spark for thoughtfulness, introspection, and critical thinking!

If you believe in God then believe in his love! And don’t allow yourself to be manipulated by what someone or something tells you to believe.

We are utterly Blown Away by you Carrie, honey!

The bible is very clear on homosexuality, and that book is alleged to give us all god's word. Nowhere in that book is homosexual sex supported or approved of. Underwood is espousing a lifestyle that god himself condemned, and so she is cherry-picking what she wants to follow when it comes to religion. This does not make her a good or faithful Christian. She also presumes to know the mind of god and speak for him, and in doing so she is a fool. Do I believe in the biblical crap? Nope. I think it's all stupid. But I also don't believe that marriage is a "human right" or a "civil right." I don't think gays should be allowed to marry because marriage is an institution that involves one woman and one man. I could support civil unions for gays, but not marriage. I don't know why you care, Mario(n), about gay marriage because the only love YOU get is from your mommy.

Yeah I like the way she worded that…thats exactly what it is…being told you cant marry someone you love is just sad…Who cares who other people love? Why/how does it affect me? I'm straight as an arrow, but I couldn't care less if gay people get married, why would I care? I'm not God, I don't need to carry his message, that by the way, was carried along by prophets…who knows what he even intended or wanted at the time, not to mention, what IF God changed HIS mind over the years?…Open mindedness, our opinions/views change…the bible was written hundrens and hundreds of years ago…times have changed people, get over it.

Yay!! Congrats to Carrie for speaking so bravely and honestly in the face of much dissent from the conservatives in country music!!

I am a straight Christian too and yet i believe God wants us to love everyone and stop this hate. The bible says not to sit in jugment of others and to love everyone.

Props to carrie for her courage and beautiful spirit!

Re: La Garse – Hhoney, you really are confused. If you don't believe in God, then you believe human beings decided that marriage s/b between one man and one woman. And if human beings decide otherwise–then obviously you should have no problem with that. Think it through!

    Re: hayley

Well said. A true Christian should be kind and love everyone not use the bible for hate.go carrie!!!

Re: Alley – We as Christians are not using the bible to hat, but to hold God's message. If you don't believe in Gods words how can you pretend to know what his words are or how they are used. I pray that you find God and that he works on your heart. Homosexuality is condemned in the bible and if you care to read look up the story of Sodim and Gamora to see what wrath God poured out on those people. It is condemned.

  8. Common Sense says – reply to this

Ok, people can fight homosexuality is condemned in the bible, God NEVER said anything about it so don't say he did. But please explain why shell fish is also.. OH and wearing two types of wool. CHECK YOUR LABEL ON YOUR CLOTHES. Why do bible thumpers like to pick and choose sh*t???

At the end of the S&G story, Lot has sex with his daughters and knocks them up. That's going to be your anti-gay example.

    She'll dump him!

What is wrong with people today? Here we go again, more celebs showing their support for gay marriage in efforts to gain a new following! Underwood, like Obama, must be desperate for more attention i.e. fans. She calls herself a firm believer of God, but then publicly reveals that she's in favor of gay marriage…..and yet there are still those that wonder why this country is going to hell. God condemns those that choose to date and/or marry the same sex. Here's my view on it, which is very plain and simple. Marriage is between a man and a woman, the end!

Re: La Garse – Oh, how Christian of you to judge and condem. Have a great day. :)

Re: Christina – You are right. It's says that in 1 Corinthians, people who practice the act homosexuality, among other things, will not inherit the kingdom of god. but it is not for us to judge who others love and what they do. That's is up to god. This is a Christian country nor it is a Christian world. So we our selves can only practice what we believe in. If people want same sex marriage, give it to them. As long as they do not force among Christian churches, I'm all for it. I support my fellow Americans. But I also have recently come to the conclusion that this issue does not affect straight people like me, therefore I won't cast my vote for it publicly.

Re: hayley – you so don't get it. It's not "carrying a message," it's about loving our creator by living the way he says to. God hasn't changed his mind. He's the same, has always been and will stay. We are the ones who change. I mean we choose one lifestyle, when we get bored we choose another, why? Because it's easy… It's to abandon when something is too hard or we get hurt. I decided a long time ago after really studying it, that the one thing my life that would stay the same would be my faith. Not follow the crowd when the thing is trendy or be "bullied" out of it.

Everybody should read up on the actual thing are commenting about because it's all right there in this big fat ass book called the bible. And no reading little parts of it either…

  17. 17

Oops meant NOT a Christian country nor world….

Re: Christina – — "Behold, this was the inequity of your sister Sodom: pride, overabundance of food (in Hebrew this phrase literally means eating to the point of retching…), prosperous ease, and idleness were hers and her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty and committed abominable offenses before Me." I'm not a Christian, but I know how to read. I don't see one thing in there condemning Sodom for being raging gays, just that they were generally bad people.

Oakra's bucket of wings: amen…. But people need to choose to accept god, Jesus, and the holy spirit to have this grace.

I'm not too worried about Carrie's career in the long run. Dolly Parton has been publicly supporting the gay community for years and it hasn't hurt attendance at Dollywood. Carrie is so talented, her career will continue for years to come.

Re: La Garse – Good Christians choose which parts of the bible they don't agree with every day while remaining to be good, faithful people. You do it, too. You cut your hair, you wear mixed textiles, and I would hope you are against slavery. This should not be new information to you. If you want to be a bigot, do so, but stop trying to justify embarrassing and bigoted behavior with the bible. It just doesn't work anymore.

  23. Diana says – reply to this

I think most of her fans will still support her not matter what. There have been plenty of singers, actors etc. that I have personally and or politically disagreed with, but I still by their music and watch their movies if I think they are good at what they do. I judge their career soley on their talent as actor or singers, not their personal views, even if I personally think they are stupid. The way I look at it is that I do not ever have to live with them let alone meet them.

  24. 24

Way to go, Carrie Underwood!! Though I am not a religious person, I think it's important for more Christians to come out in support of marriage equality. This isn't a war between Christians and gays, or gay people and straight people. It's a war between bigots and nonbigots. That's it. Christians, take a stand and show the world that god will NOT stand for bigotry, ESPECIALLY in his name, Carrie Underwood, and other compassionate Christians, I thank you for your respect and compassion. It's people like you who will get marriage equality passed, not us. Show the world that Christianity is NOT a religion that will tolerate bigotry and inequality.

Re: hayley – The bible says a lot of things we don't follow. Most modern Christians don't follow it exactly as written like eating or not eating things on certain days. I don't see why homosexuality is seen as such a different thing as those rules. Seems more like people just trying to oppress others and use the bible to justify their prejudices.

But good for Carrie for speaking her mind and not being worried about losing fans over this.

  26. 26

Re: Christina – You are a hypocrite. How can you ignore parts of the bible every day, like cutting your hair, wearing mixed textiles, and hopefully, being against slavery, and judge people for ignoring a bigoted part of the bible? The bible was written by MAN, not god. That is a fact.
I'll say it again. You obviously are not for marriage equality, and that is your choice. But you CANNOT blame your bigotry on the bible anymore, because you yourself have proven that it's okay to ignore certain parts of it that you find distasteful. Jesus would be disgusted by people like you. How dare you try to tell a fellow Christian that they are less Christian than you are because they are taking a stand against bigotry. Do you really have that little respect for your religion?

  27. erin says – reply to this

EVERY form of the "Bible" I have ever read was written in the 90s by a person. A PERSON. Who was deciphering tablets of prophecy written in ANOTHER LANGUAGE from before the death of Jesus Christ. That's a really freaking long time ago. I take what the Bible says with a grain of salt, so to speak. I believe in God, but the actions of some of his followers are despicable, so it's thanks to you Bible-spouting, hateful people that I don't follow religion. All religion does is create wars and cause people to kill each other over literature.

To all those that think Marriage should be limited to just Man and Woman, need to really think about that for a second. Do you also accept interracial marriages?! One could argue that Whites/Blacks/Yellow/Red/etc where all placed in different places on the globe so interracial marriages shouldn't be allowed, mixing races is just NOT cool y'all. Get out of here with that 1950's KKK bullshit. Marriage has hundreds of benefits that Married Couples benefit from from Taxes to Hospital Rights. LOVE does not Discriminate, People do and your discrimination should NOT be allowed to lay the law of the land. Everybody is different FOR A REASON. Geez GOD made all of us exactly the way GOD wanted to. How Many GAY/LESBIAN/TRANSGENDERED people does GOD need to make before you realize it's NORMAL. The only abnormal thing in all of this is the HATE you Religious folks spew. Really educate yourselves. Put down that fictional book you so dearly call the BIBLE, and really embrace life and open your heart up to Equality and Acceptance. Trust me you'll be that much happier!

Fantastic. Carrie is not a political or outspoken person by nature, so this must be something she truly believes is important.

Lovely to see some "so-called" christians attacking Carrie on a GOSSIP blog, run by a very GAY blogger… what brought you here in the first place?? Go back to your caves… it's not by looking from above that will get you sympathy and be heard… do like Carrie and start practicing LOVE and then you might stand a chance in getting others to listen…
