Mad Men And True Blood Ravage Ratings

| Filed under: TV NewsBusiness BlitzTrue BloodTony Awards

true blood ratings

So, THIS is why the Tony Awards scored such looooooow ratings!

On Sunday night, the season finale of Mad Men and the season premiere of True Blood pulled viewers away from broadcast TV and over to the dark side: CABLE!!

Don Draper and the other Mad Men finished their fourth (and highest-rated) season with an swinging 2.7 million total viewers. Not too shabby for AMC!!!

True Blood, as always, killed.

HBO's vamps and the fairies dragged 6.3 million viewers away from network and basic cable during the two broadcasts of its season five opener.

That makes True Blood the second rated show on Sunday night — on any channel!

Networks better watch out!

These racy shows are coming for your viewers!

Face the facts, if there was something better than Mad Men or True Blood on, people would tune in and watch
The Tony Awards have very limited appeal to the general public
There has not been a new knock out show,or star on Bway in years
    It's all revivals
And getting that sissy to host, was not a good choice
He is sort of a female version of Rosie, talking about his kids, and his fiance

Mad Men just ended its fifth season, not fourth.

This is a perfect example of why I, and probably a large number of other people, are fed up with the major networks. They all switch to repeats and stall new episodes of shows when big things like the Tonys, the final four or other large events show on ONE network, leaving those of us who don't care about those events or shows to wait another week or more for the shows we like. I think this leads to lower ratings for shows that are actually good. AMC, HBO and other channels such as Showtime succeed by providing great entertainment week after week despite whatever is shown on the other channels because they know they have great TV. I wish the networks would realize this and do the same for their viewers.

    Season 5 was Gangbusters!!!
Was it ever doubted that the ratings would be anything but?
TrueBlood has garnered top ratings each Season it's debuted.
Season 5 will be the Best Season yet.
