NPH Tony awards

Where is the love for Broadway?!?!

It had crayass show-stopping musical numbers and the incrediballs Mr. Neil Patrick Harris!!

Sounds like ratings GOLD … howeves Sunday night's broadcast of the The 66th Annual Tony Awards scored it's lowest rating since 1991!

A mere 6 million people tuned in to the the FABULOUS spectacle. That's 14 percent LESS total viewers than last year, and 17 percent LESS in their 18 to 49 demo.

The night's highest rated show was 60 Minutes, which came on right before the Tonys. 7.88 million people watched CBS for the hour, then about 1.8 million of them switched off before the award show came on.

What is wrong with the world?!

If you are among the millions of people that missed out on the incredible show, you're in luck!

We have the list of winners and NPH's closing number RIGHT HERE!!!

Neil Patrick Harris was good as always. The problem is that the musicals this pass year sucked. Nothing released this pass years has legs except perhaps Spiderman and that is not even very good. Even Once in just about every other year would not have won musical of the year. There were some very good plays but they do not bring in the ratings for the Tonys.

No body watched the show, and now every post on here the past few days has been about the Tony's. NO ONE CARES. Sorry :S Please stop posting about them.

Think you'd clue in after your 4 pages of coverage with no comments that most people don't share your gay excitement for these awards. One can only handle so much lisping.

Not everyone lives close enough to NY or has the $ to fly in to see the Broadway shows. Most of the shows no one has ever heard of nor have they heard of many of the actors and actresses. The Tony's hold no interest for most of America.

    The Tony's were on???? Whaaaaat??

not surprising. americans wouldn't know "true talent" if it walked right up to them and slapped them in the face. i mean look at what is popular in america. reality t.v., bad music, shitty movies, ect….. even the republican presidential candidates were such an
embarrassment to this country. and how about the audience members during the debates, applauding perry’s record on executions, cheering when the debate moderator posed a hypothetical about a dying 30-year-old who lacked health insurance, and booing a gay service member stationed in iraq when he asked a question about "don't ask, don't tell". you really think these uneducated dumb fucks would tune in to see something with any type of artistic merit?

I agree with TOM (first response), the musicals were not very good. You Perez, said that Peter and the Starcatcher was terrible then today, your comment was so favorable… why?? I fell asleep during the show, then watched bits today and realized it was so ungodly LONG that no one wanted to sit through all of it. Musical numbers taken out of context are sometimes not so exciting. Several of the shows look pretty bad — what was that guy rolling around on the floor about anyway (ONe Man Two Guvnors).

Maybe it has to do with the fact that you posted the winners before it even aired on the west coast. I don't watch the tony's but that is a huge pet peeve of mine.

Damn the Tony Awards. I'm only here for the Grammys and the VMAs.

You had four bloated pages of obnoxious coverage, and STILL no one gave a poop?
    Gee…….what a shocker.

What a boring show. When NPH opened the show, he immediately made reference to Gays and I thought this should be called the Gay Tony Awards. NPH is a frustrated song and dance man. I found him very annoying. As for the show, it was too long and the tunes performed sucked. Nothing familiar. Is this what Broadway has to offer. I'll pass.

    Re: AttFinch
I think most people in the United States could not afford to go to New York to see a Broadway show if they wanted to, and crappy music and television is free. So maybe if these things were visible to people outside of rich new yorkers there would be more interest in them.

Have not watched the show in years. I am retired and living on SS and a small royalty check, last time I saw a play was about 5-6 years ago at the Palos Verdes Playhouse (which is actually in Torrance CA) and it cost me $15 senior discount to see a very funny British murder mystery play.

  16. 16

maybe its cause NO ONE knew it was even on!

  17. 17

It might have helped if the advertised it ahead of time better. I didn't hear about it til the day before. I didnt see ads for it anywhere. Maybe that's why they had fewer viewers.

When I heard about this years ratings I thought "it was up against the season finale of Mad Men and season permire of True Blood so…" I on the other hand watched The Tonys and dvred the other two and that should be the only thing that matters
