It’s about time!!
Epic songstress Bette Midler was finally given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Thursday night.
Stevie Nicks, another legendary lady who know a little something about selling records, presented the chart-topping multi-Grammy winner with her prestigious award.
From a distance — sorry, we had to — Bette was a little chippy while delivering her acceptance speech.
"This thing has been going on for 43 years and this is the first time I've been invited? I'm kind of annoyed."
LOLz!! We're positive she was being sarcastic!!
Always a fan of self-deprecation, she then added:
"First I was a tramp, then a visionary. Then I was an icon, then an institution. This is an award for tenacity.. I would also like to thank people who love me unconditionally even when I was at my worst. Which is, unfortunately, a lot."
You’re eternally FABULOUS!!
Mz. Nicks agrees — she offered nothing but her praise:
“[Bette] takes each song and sings them as if she had written them herself."
U R not too shabby yourself, Stevie!!
