Jack Osbourne Diagnosed With Multiple Sclerosis

| Filed under: Jack OsbourneSad SadHealth

So sad! This family has already been through so much.

Jack Osbourne, son of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Multiple sclerosis is a "disease that affects the central nervous system – the brain and spinal cord – and can cause problems with muscle control and strength, vision, balance, feeling, and thinking."

Jack received the bitter news just two weeks after he and fiancee Lisa brought their beautiful baby girl Pearl into the world. Jack opened up about his shocking diagnosis just this afternoon, saying:

"I was just angry and frustrated and kept thinking, 'Why now?' I've got a family and that's what's supposed to be the most important thing."

You've got nothing if you don't have your loved ones and your health. Fortunatley for him, the Osbourne family as a pretty impressive track record of beating the odds. Jack is sure to be just like the rest of his fam and come through this with flying colors.

You're in our thoughts, Jack. You and your whole family. Stay strong.

Such a debilitating disease. Very sorry to hear this. Will send good vibes. We so need more research and more advances on MS research. Hang in there!

MS is not a death sentence, it is simply an obstacle. I am 26 as well and I was diagnosed with the disease at 20. There are amazing therapies and treatment options! There will be ups and there will be downs but you can live a very fulfilling life despite having MS!!

Is it exacerbated by drug use ? What causes this ? Is it genetic ?

So sad? Stop being so grim and condescending! My sister has been living with MS for nearly 10 years now, and she still continues to live an active lifestyle, even more so than I do, and I'm younger than she is. Although not curable, it is treatable, but it is not a death sentence.

  7. 7

Gluten has been implicated in MS. Perhaps he should go gluten free.

  8. 8

He probably knew about it for a while. What a weird coincidence that it happens right after the birth of his child..Probably trying to jack up the price for baby pictures and an interview. Better to be cynical than a blind naive lamb.

"This family has been through so much"
Really? REALLY? 100% of what they've "been through" was caused my alcohol, fame and everything self induced. Although it is horrible that Jack has MS, quit making them seem like the Kennedys.

    So sad.
This is a difficult disease for the recipient and even greater for the spouse.
Watched my cousin at 21 diagnosed with MS.
He was engaged to a kindergarten teacher.
She went through with the marriage cuz he was so handsome and vibrant.
Things were tolerable in the younger years.
It's the later years when he was wheel chair bound, 4 young kids and little wifey having to take care of the whole family in every way…and he was in diapers.
A stronger person than me is needed to stay in this kind of relationship till you die.
    God bless them.

So sad to hear this news. They're an amazing family who have overcome debilitating addictions and become in turn positive human beings and hard working people. I wish him the best with treatment and will be adding him to my prayer list tonight. The rest of you who are so negative in these comments, get a life.

  12. 12

Use Michael J. Fox as your inspiration, Jack! He was diagnosed with parkinson's a year after his first son was born, and it has only made him a better person. He's obviously in my username for a reason!

Re: NoOne – "THe Kennedy's"? They are one of this country's most dysfunctional families; extremely sick & evil people….

    Ah crap……

The Ozzie'z and the Perezillas are two of my favorites families!

    That sucks. God Speed.

  15. 15

I know a lot of people who live a healthy and active life style with MS, it can get worse as people get older. I don't feel sorry for this family they are washed up drug users, yes drugs ruin your health!

  16. 16

I've had a relative who lived with this disease for more than 50 years so this is not a death sentence.

So Sharon's cancer was cause by alcohol?
    Shut up you moron!

    Stay strong Jack.

I was diagnosed with MS several years ago.. I tell ya I have had some scary moments but overall it hasnt affected my life hugely. There is medication now (interferons) that will help stop the symptoms. If it was 10 years ago or more he would be in much worse shape, but there is much more treatment now than there once was.

I was diagnosed at 21 and am still very healthy and active at age 32 with no disabilities. It affects everyone differently, but it's not a death sentence, and it doesn't have to be "sad." I'm happy for him that he'll be able to afford medication, which can cost upward of $4k a month without insurance. And while diet hasn't been directly linked to the cause or cure of MS, I belive that being on a vegan, gluten-free diet has helped mitigate my symptoms. Best of luck to Jack…you have a huge support system in the MS community!

  21. 21

Hey, idontbelieveyou, I hope no one believes you. Gluten is NOT implicated in MS: Lack of sunlight, heredity and common viruses are.
STFU and keep your conspiracy theories off the net. The deepest circle of hell is reserved for snakeoil salesmen like you: jump in, or read a textbook: your choice.

  22. n. says – reply to this

Ask your doctor about low dose naltrexone. It's not patented and it isn't a big pharma co money maker so they won't freely prescribe it but, it has fewer and less scary side effects than most treatments for MS and other autoimmune diseases. Have them look it up on pubmed to see the successful studies.

  23. Jillybean says – reply to this

So sad..my cousin died from that at the age of 26. Hope he gets on the right treatment. I would start eating Rick Simpson Cannabis Oil for starters.

  24. 24

    …better contact Montel…

  25. Aleya says – reply to this

It's annoying reading some of the comments downplaying this disease. No, it isn't a death sentence but MS effects people differently. Some people can continue to live their life to the fullest and for others it has been very debilitating.

  26. 26

I'm sure Jack will be doing the Talk Show circuit; that's all his family does, take's advantage of every cash making opportunity….

  27. 27

this truly sucks, Jack finally grew up and matured into a normal human being. All my best to him, his lady and baby.

  28. 28

idon'tbelieveyou says…"Gluten has been implicated in MS" ,,, bullshit,,, gluten seems to be the current media made scape goat right up there with high fructose corn syrup.

  29. 29

Re: Albion1984 – re alcohol/cancer ,,, actually serious alcoholics, like myself, do have an increased incidence of cancer. I am in no way supporting the the silly slut no-one, just supplying some information.

Sad to hear this, but it definitely doesn't mean a death sentence at all. He will likely outlive a lot of us.

  31. 31

Re: NoOne – "quit making them seem like the Kennedys. " oh you mean the people who had people killed while making their fortune smuggling alcohol during prohibition, and that family who kept one son out of jail in WWII facing espionage charges, same family that none of the men can keep their dicks in their pants, and leave innocent girls in a pond to drown to death, with brothers that shared a number of women, some of which were also fucking the leadership of the chicago mob, and the same people who purchased the election through the illinois machine, run by thoses same mob guys,,, you mean THOSE kennedys???

  32. 32

oh wow… so sad! i have a friend whos mother has MS, her mother is older in her 70s id say. and she says it herts seeing her mother like how she is. i cant amagine. :(

Re: Obnoxious_Joe – Well hopefully that's the same for him, but it's not like that for all people.

  37. LivingWithMS says – reply to this

Reading through the comments makes it very obvious that there is not enough awareness raised about MS. I've had it since I was in the 4th grade, yes, children can get MS. No, it typically isn't a death sentence but in rare occurrences it can be. The right nerves get effected and you can die. It's rare but it happens. Yes, some people lead long happy fairly healthy lives with MS with relatively few issues with it but the majority do have lifelong relapses if not permanent disabilities. Guys are known to be effected worse than women. Get your facts right before you go spouting off about gluten and other crap theories on how someone gets it. Truth is no one knows yet. There are plenty of speculations about hereditary, viruses, and environmental factors but nothing is 100% the cause. There are all kinds of treatments out there now to help keep relapses from happening and slow the progression of the disease but nothing can cure it yet. I wish him the very best. As someone living with the disease I know the struggles he is in for but also know that one can live a happy life no matter what the disease throws at you. It's all about your outlook and how you choose to address having the disease. He has a long road to go with more anger and more tears and more of every emotion imaginable but he'll get through it.

  38. 38

The family has been through so much? Yeah it must be so rough having a Rock God of a father with money and a name that they can live comfortably off of for the rest of their lives.

  39. Lisa says – reply to this

You can't get over MS with 'flying colours'. I suggest you do some research Perez!

  40. kitakitkaiti says – reply to this

"Jack is sure to be just like the rest of his fam and come through this with flying colors." MS is not curable..so while he can "come through" the acceptance of having MS he cannot "come through" by beating the disease….my thoughts do go out to him and his family…MS is a horrible disease

  41. 41

Awww so sad : (( I hope he stays strong xxx

  42. Jenna says – reply to this

I have MS and I am in the best shape of my life right now. For me, MS was a wakeup call and I changed for the better because of it. Most people are ill informed about this disease. They assume that a diagnosis means that your life is doomed and that you will no longer function the same. This is just not true. If you saw me, you would never know that I have MS. I work out every day ( I run/ bike an average of 50 miles a week) and I watch my diet. I applaud Jack's courage for making his diagnosis public. The more we can spread awareness, the faster we can improve treatment and eventually find a cure.

  43. 43

Bummer. He seems like a nice guy. Sharon should re-evaluate what a greedy nasty person she is inside. Maybe Karma won't nail her again in the future of she changes that shitty tune of hers.

  44. Be-Atch says – reply to this

Sharon is a Fugly Hag of a Fish-Wife….she does spread evil, and has a sense of superiority ’bout her…Can't stand her on that T.V. show……Wonder how she is gonna milk this…start a charity foundation with OTHER people's money …. ?

  45. Be-Atch says – reply to this

Is he friends with that HoHan girl … ? This might scare her straight ……

  46. D says – reply to this

I have MS and I have had MS for 18+ yrs (I was diagnosed at a VERY young age) it is NOT excacerbated or caused by drug/alcohol abuse. Loribelle said it best, " It's not a death sentence, it's a life sentence"! He can't "beat it" but he can live with it!

  47. 47

"Jack is sure to be just like the rest of his fam and come through this with flying colors." You know MS isn't a cold or the flu, right? Why are you such an ignorant, condescending shit, Perez?

  48. 48

Re: raypearson – For once I agree with you; It's amazing what the two remaining brain cells you have left are capable of knowing….

  49. 49

Now Sharon will open a Jack Osbourne MS Foundation charity where she'll funnel millions of tax-free income and travel the world doing it's business…. all-expenses paid, of course.

  50. Lori says – reply to this

I was diagnosed 6 1/2 years ago. It is ok to have a pity party, but after that you need to get yourself into a Neuro straight away and get on a treatment drug. You can still have a quality of life, it just will really, really suck somedays. Perhaps the more celebs that are diagnosed with this, the more MS will beome well-known and doctors will do just as much research as they do with Cancer. Hang in there Jack.

I am so sorry for him, I am also newly diagnosed, but celebrities are not the only people who get this and it is a big deal for everyone involved. I hope he is not one of the unlucky ones that has a more progressive form.
