Lil Wayne Stands By His Decision To Pull Nicki Minaj From Hot 97 Summer Jam

He has his artist's back! And more importantly, he has his GURL's back!

We challenge anyone to fault him for that!

Lil' Wayne is finally speaking up regarding his decision to pull Nicki Minaj from her headlining gig at New York City's annual Hot 97 Summer Jam two weeks ago, and still maintains that he did the right thing!

Why? Because Her Minajesty deserved respect, and Weezy feels she was not given that when DJ Peter Rosenberg dissed her single, Starships, before she went on!

He explains:

"That's a female; first and foremost Nicki Minaj is a female. I don't know what anyone else believes, but I believe females deserve the ultimate respect at all times no matter, when or where or how. As soon as she called me and told me she felt disrespected, I just declined everything. I pulled her from the show because…no person that works with me will be disrespected in my presence as long as I'm on this planet. I expect the red carpet, in her manner; the pink carpet should be laid out for her. It's just an executive move—no salt, no bad feelings, no hard feelings. I feel like a woman should be respected at all times, therefore I made the right decision."

Bravo to that!

He obviously cares a great deal for all of the artists on his roster, and will defend their integrity - especially when someone goes out of their way to insult their music right before they're scheduled to go on!

We mean, c'mon! What was he thinking?

Sometimes we all need to be reminded that a little respect goes a long way!

The dude was wrong, but this shouldn't be about Nicki being a female. She's an artist…her fans deserve better. She should go on the stage, say something like "Nicki Minaj doesn't care about her haters…I'm here for the fans!" and performed Starships with all the power she could. Or, she should go old-school and diss back.

this is some petty bullshit. As Ana said, she is an artist and her fans deserve better. What does she care that some no name DJ dissed her song. If anything she, disrespected her fans by bailing out.

Nicki Minaj needs a reality check. Her ego is bigger than her talent.

This is coming from a person who calls women "bitches" and completely degrades women in his music. Please, who are you trying to fool ?

Nicki Minaj is an asswhipe. DJ Peter Rosenberg was right…..ITS NOT A HIP HOP/RAP song. Its more of a club beat. `She should have just admitted that and moved on, not punish her fans cause she feels "disrespected!" Give me an effin break.

Women need to be unquestionably respected and treated like the Goddesses they are at all times!!!

Men… meh, rough them up, charge them double for shows, doesn't matter.

    Lil Wayne is an ass

First of all, letting your "haters" win by pulling your artist off the stage is an epic FAIL! There are thousands of fans, 1 hater, and you let the hater's comments upset your artist, and cancel the show?

the truth of the matter is, no one spoke to wayne when she first was pulled off the show. instead grown ass white men were getting on black radio to diss a black women. rosenburg, flex… all of hot 97, their anger was directed at who it was easy to get at… a female. no one talked crazy to wayne for a SECOND.

ummm everyone doesn't have to like her music.Everyone in young money needs to get over themselves Just because they call themselves "the greatest rappers alive" doesn't mean it's true. I actually look up to that DJ for being honest and not just caring about the paycheck, that's what ruined hip hop in the first place. And Lil Wayne thinks women should be respected at all times? Should we just disregard all the punchlines in his music devoted to disrespecting women for the past decade?

Nicki is the "black" (not so much black any more) Kim K. Nothing is real about their face/bodies or their personalities. They probably go to the same doctor.

Lil Wayne is a hypocrite he shows absolutely zero respect to women in his music…which has a huge influence on the way many young people think. Nicki Minaj and her "song" Starships are both terrible.

    16

    Starships ain't hip-hop.
Lets just keep it real here people, Nicki Minaj is a pop star…Not a hip hop star

what he said is sweet and nice but i agree with other commenters, i was thinking the same thing: he talks about women & how they should be respected yet he refers to women as bitches and rap about some quite disrespectful and degrading things towards women. i'd like him a lot more if he didnt do that.
