Obama Skips Jared Leto fundraiser

Barack Obama has made time for several Hollywood heavyweights during his campaign, but can't squeeze in the town's latest fundraiser organized by Jared Leto.

Instead of attending this Friday's Gen44 fundraiser at SoHo House, the White House will send three representatives in place of the Prez — campaign Chief Technology Officer Harper Reed, Battleground States director Mitch Stewart and director of Opinion Research David Simas.

We're sure all of the stars in attendance will be a little disappointed that they won't be schmoozing with the most powerful man in the United States, but at least he's considering sending a video message.

George Clooney's record-setting fundraiser cost $40,000 a plate, while this soiree will only cost the public $500 a ticket and cost Host Committee members $2,500.

Guess the old saying is true — you get what you pay for. Ha!

    interesting
with months left to go- Obama has already had more fundraisers than any other president in history
so much fundraising tells me that he, himself, is uncertain if he will be re-elected
perhaps if he actually accomplished something positives and spent more time governing and working on the nations problems and less time hobnobbing at fundraisers- people would want to re-elect him automatically
he was voted in with practically no experience really- and now he's got close to 4 years of a record that is far from stellar
so he is no longer being judged on his wonderful oratory and uplifting hope and change message of the last election
he's being judged on facts and accomplishments or lack of
that's why he's fundraising like crazy- political ads to try to convince us and maybe himself that he should keep the job for 4 more years
I am not yet convinced looking at the unemployment numbers month after month

Obama and Leto are both idiot assholes. I hope it tanks.

Sorry, lost my job of 20 years under him and have not been able to find another, so am now "involuntarily" retired in my early 60's so I have no use for him and sorry I wasted my vote in the last election. In my defense, I can only say McCain was a worst choise at least for me but looking back I should have voted for the Libertarians. Is Ron Paul still running?

Obama plans to be in fire-devastated Colorado on Friday.
All candidates, incumbent or challenger, do as much fundraising as possible these days. Re-electing an incumbent "automatically" is an old, tired, and incorrect assumption.

Perez why you do not like him that much? Jared is a good guy, hard working, so fu****** handsome and I think you're jealous b/c of that.

I think it is a poor decision. Is the per plate price to low? He had a meeting with young Hollywood asking for their support a couple of weeks ago and then they plan a fundraiser and he doesn't show. Oh well it could be worse - he could have chosen to send Biden.
