After the success of The Avengers, Marvel and Disney would be crazy NOT to use every movie they make to set up another one.
Much like what Thor did for Captain America or what Iron Man 2 did for The Avengers, sources are suggesting that Iron Man 3 will have a NEW hero cameo to set up another franchise.
Which Marvel hero, you ask?
To answer that question, we must first discuss the villain. Ben Kingsley is reportedly playing Marvel universe supervillain Mandarin, who employs Chinese scientist Chen Lu to help carry out his plot against Iron Man. After exposing himself to radiation, Lu becomes supervillain Radioactive Man.
Since director Shane Black and Marvel boss Kevin Feige have said that the movie won't serve as a transition for the next Avengers movie, the next logical choice would be Edgar Wright's Ant-Man!
The hero is already headed to the big screen and he frequently clashes with Radioactive Man, so it would make perfect sense to introduce him in Iron Man 3.
Rumor has it that the Shaun of the Dead director is even shooting footage to "test out the potential look and tone" of the movie. Or as others speculate, a post-credit sequence to introduce the character by the end of Tony Stark's third solo outing.
Fans can look forward to finding out more deets about the latest Marvel news at the upcoming Comic-Con event in San Diego.
