The Reign Of The Amazing Spider-Man Begins…OVERSEAS! Beat Out The Avengers In Some Markets!

Wow! We didn't think ANYTHING could topple The Avengers!

Let alone so soon!

But apparently, that's exactly what The Amazing Spider-Man is already up to after its debut this weekend, where it opened in 13 select Asian territories to an incredible $50.2 million!

However, the real big bucks came from Korea as the flick made $13.4 million alone, which marks it a 24% bigger opening than its predecessor, Spider-Man 3, and 10% more than The Avengers!

Meanwhile, in India, it made $6.0 million upon opening, the biggest for a Hollywood film EVER, as well as 73% more than The Avengers!

Incredible!

Can't wait to see what other ridiculous amounts of moolah it brings in once it premieres everywhere else July 3rd!

KOREA earned $13.4M on 1,213 screens

JAPAN opened with $11.4M on 1,092 screens

INDIA grossed $6.0M on 1,236 screens

PHILIPPINES bowed with $3.2M on 529 screens

TAIWAN did $2.9M on 268 screens

HONG KONG earned $2.7M on 158 screens

SINGAPORE grossed $2.5M on 128 screens

THAILAND opened to $1.9M on 320 screens

VIETNAM grossed $425K on 41 screens

GERMANY grossed an estimated $4.2M on 755 screens

HOLLAND earned $850K on 113

AUSTRIA opened to $480K on 85

SWITZERLAND did $290K on 130

    Mario, you are silly. Of course Spiderman would beat Avengers. Avengers opened internationally last April 25! It's been over two months already!

    It's weird how all the bad movies that "underperform" here do so well overseas. Skipping the reboot for kids and saving my $$ for Batman. Maybe I'll rent it 99¢ rental from Redbox.

    That's kinda normal…Spiderman is more known that any hero in the Avengers. I still think, however, that Batman will rule them all.
