TV Legend Andy Griffith Passes Away At 86!

Andy Griffith Hospitalization Sadface

Oh no!!!!

Ambulances were called to Andy Griffith's home in Roanoke Island, NC and he was dead when paramedics arrived on the scene!

This is so sad!

The 86 year-old star of ahmaaaazing old-timey TV programs like Matlock was a verifiable local legend to folks in that region!

There's even a statue of him and Ron Howard — as seen in the opening of The Andy Griffith Show — on display in Raleigh!!

The details surrounding his death are still unclear but our thoughts are definitely with his friends and his family!!

You will be missed, good Sir!

If details are unclear, why is NBC reporting that he's dead? You need to be more selective in your story stealing.

Rest In Peace Dear Andy! Loved you growing up on Matlock. You and Don Knots can know be funny in Heaven together. Thanks for the laughs.

What I find very sad about his passing is many of the older Americans who grew up watching Andy, loving Andy turned against him when he made the TV spot promoting
ObamaCare for AARP, which takes 500 billion $$$ out of Medicare
He said he was not paid for the commercial, did it for free,
It's a shame that he was not better advised, by friends, and family
    RIP

Mr. Pete: … I don't think your political comments are appropriate in this forum. Show some respect for a legend. His fans didn't turn against him because he supported Obama's health care plan in a commercial. That is just silly to even suggest that. By the way, I live in Canada, and we have free health care. Sure we get taxed to have 'free' health care, but it is well worth it. The cost otherwise would be … well… what you people have to put up with. Andy Griffith was a wise man. May he RIP.

Re: Mr Pete – What is sad is that he wasn't allowed to have an opinion and stand up for it w/out people turning against him. I am not for Obamacare, I am ok w/ people having their own mind and speaking it. RIP

Rest in peace, Andy :( If heaven is Mayberry (which I strongly believe it is) that's where you'll be.

The statue of Andy and Opie, from The Andy Griffith Show, is not in Raleigh, NC but Andy Griffith's hometown of Mount Airy, NC — the town that Mayberry was based off of. He is a legend here and the entire town is in mourning.
