Apple Releasing iPod Touch iPad Mini This Fall

| Filed under: Tech TalkBusiness Blitz

iPad mini hitting market in October

In response to competition from Amazon and Google's seven-inch tablets, Apple is reportedly releasing an iPad Mini in October.

The shrunken version of the standard 9.7-inch iPad will feature a 7.85-inch display and cost customers $299 if they are looking for 8GB of memory.

Steve Jobs' successor, Tim Cook, was not a huge fan of the smaller screens, but has decided to launch the product to compete directly with Microsoft's Surface.

Apple is also releasing the new iOS 6 operating system during the same month, which is prompting expectations for yet another iPhone.

strange you don't qualify this as a rumor - because it's purely speculation. If not, please cite your sources. Plus, it was Steve Jobs, not Tim Cook, who disliked the smaller screens.

Wha…? The Microsoft Surface is about the same size as the current iPad. This article makes no sense.

So, basically they are making a Kindle Fire or Nexus 7 but are charging $100 more. And people will flock to it because it has an Apple on it. But, if it wasn't for the iPAD we probably wouldn't have these amazing 7inch products.

Perez, stick with your normal celebrity garbage, you should not be allowed to discuss tech rumors you clearly don't know anything about.

so… ipad mini, itouch, iphone… all basically the same product, no?

The Microsoft Surface is a FULL-FLEDGED computer, not a simple tablet like the iPad, Nexus 7, and Kindle Fire. Another thing, Apple is "supposedly" releasing a 7-inch iPad to compete with GOOGLE and AMAZON, not Microsoft. Microsoft's tablet PC will be MORE EXPENSIVE than an iPad because it is a TRUE PC running a REAL OPERATING SYSTEM, not a MOBILE OS like iOS or Android. Plus, everyone knows a new iPad is coming in the fall, one comes out EVERY YEAR. You all should just stick to celeb stories because the quality of this post is atrocious.
