…but we're betting this smog only leads to flickering flames.

According to new reports, Katie Holmes confided in Victoria Beckham prior to dropping the divorce bombshell.

Since Posh and David have such a great marriage, Katie was able to see things clearly — how a real relationship works.

So apparently the gal-pals talked and talked and talked for weeks leading up to decision, with Victoria supporting her all the way.

As one source puts it:

"Katie's seen how a normal marriage should function by being around Victoria and David Beckham, so she knew that something was wrong with her relationship with Tom. She and Victoria have been talking a lot. Posh has been trying not to take sides, but she has let Katie know she'll be there for her whatever she chooses to do."

Hmmm…. verry inneresting!!!

But honestly, it just sounds like the gurls were havin' some marriage kikis! That's all!

Good to know Katie has such powerful support on the matter too! Bet that really helped her momentum!

They make appearances twice a month when necessary (and she always looks completely miserable). Have you not noticed that aside from photo ops they are never together? They were at Wimbledon and Posh looks sooo miserable. Nope.. you are completely off-base. I think they are keeping up appearances for whateve their money-making reasons are but i don't believe that they have any semblance of a marriage anymore. He's a cheat.. now there is talk of him and Tom Cruise of all people.

How about Katie came from a good family? How about Katie's parents have a good marriage and she grew up knowing what one should be like? Is that even a remote possibility? Probably not newsworthy, right?

and on top of that she could see how Victoria was able to balance her own fame, career in fashion, mothering 4 children,living in the limelight of a world famous husband while being herself
it appears to me that she's also does not have the kind of her husband who tires to control/dictate every move in her career and personal life
and he's not overly obsessed with "religion" (and I use that word for Scientology under protest)
……………
in comparison to her parents terrific marriage and the Beckham's celebrity marriage, what she had with Tom was clearly not the "normal" nor the "ever after" she had dreamed of/deserved/needed
