Kirk Cameron Belittles Gay Families In Dying Homophobia Campaign

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayTacky & True

Look, we all know the anti-gay marriage clock is ticking.

We know equality (hey, what a great American concept) will soon prevail over the shrinking cloud of homophobia that rains on its followers.

Regardless, NOM (or National Organization for Marriage) hired Kirk Cameron to preach his infamous views on marriage — that unless it's a straight union, it's destined for doom! (above)

You know we've expressed our views on Kirk's contradictory statements before, the ones that aid in hindering American equality anyways.

But we thought you might like to know what GLAAD thinks about all of this. They recently released a statement, saying:

"Kirk Cameron and the anti-gay activists at NOM are making a claim that Americans know to be false. This rhetoric won't work anymore.

Communities across this country love and cherish their LGBT neighbors, friends and family members. This includes people in families headed by LGBT people.

Their implication that LGBT couples can't create loving and stable homes is not only outdated and irrelevant; it's designed specifically to hurt those families."

Exactly.

Kirk and NOM are entitled to their opinions. They can preach the greatness of being straight to their followers. No problem at all! When they knock gay marriages, however… that's when it becomes problematic.

But quite frankly, it's just an old joke at this point. Like we said, we know it's only a matter of time before gay youth can feel safe at school. Before gay couples can enjoy marriage longer than celebrities. And before people like Kirk, hopefully, see the real light of love.

Tick Tock, Tick Tock!

um..at what point in his messages does he belittle others? Sound like he is just stating his opinion…which everyone is entitled to. I support LGBT but I also support the right for everyone to have their own religion and opinion.

Sorry Perez but I am with Kirk. I didn't hear any kind of hate speech what so ever in that video. He is absolutely correct in his views as well. Just because someone doesn't agree with your views doesn't mean that it's hate. On the other hand since you will obviously disagree with me does that mean that you hate Kirk or I for our views? Doesn't that create a double standard?

  3. 3

If you're so confident, then why post this? If it's inevitable, then why notice anything that points to the contrary? The fact is that you use shit like this to promote an agenda that many disagree with, and you can't stand it when people oppose you. Guess what, ass clown? That clock is going to take FAR longer to wind down than you'll like, IF it ever winds down. No one wants you anyhow, so I don't see why you're worried.

Given that 50% of straight marriages end in divorce, he needs to worry about that. His opinions are as uneducated as he is–someone who had a tutor a couple of hours a day to get a high school "diploma" or what passes for one in Hollywood. In any case, hate is hate whether you slam gays, or Blacks, or women. None of it comesfrom a place of love and respect. Time for Cameron to confine his opinions to his church so others don't have to hear it. His right to free speech stops at my ears.

  6. 6

Gay marriage will never be widely accepted despite what the gay agenda wants you to think. They're just a bunch of perverts and pedophiles that want their sickness to be accepted by society.

  7. 7

people are entitled to their opinions. this is bigotry. plan and simple. i think in a few years we will all be embarrassed that we even had to debate this subject.

Kirk is right. He's also 1 million times the person you are or ever will be Perez.

Gay marriage is not going to pass in the US. Each and every time it has been brought to an actual vote in a state it has been voted down. People only pretend to support it in the media because they are afraid of being bullied by hate filled gay mod led by you.

  9. 9

He is a wolf in sheep's clothing. His speech is all about love and goodness, but really it is about discrimination. He is not 'fighting for marriage', he is fighting for discrimination. Yes, he is entitled to his religion and his opinion, but there is no doubt that his opinion is promoting discrimination, and discrimination is hate.

I always find it hilarious when you try to make these propaganda posts and try to sound all proper and mature. You're the guy whose claim to fame is drawing genitals on people's faces, making up stories, copying and pasting for a living, and drawing hearts on straight men's privates. No one respects you Perez. They go to your site for the celebs, not you. You are the biggest hypocrite, bully, and hate filled individual on the planet. The reason why the gay community is struggling to make any progress is because of individuals such as yourself. Quit making these kinds of posts because you're only embarrassing yourself.

  14. 14

Lay the fuck off of him. You want your BELIEFS respected, yet you WON'T respect others belief. Fucking hypocrite.

No where in this video did he belittle anyone, and I'm PRO gay, but I swear this site is starting to make me antigay.

Stop giving him the time of day and he will crawl back under his rock. YOU make him dangerous every time you give him space on your site to be heard.

Listening to his clip, not once does he single out gays, but talks about marriage and making it work and families and modeling what love and forgiveness is for your children. If you take away any impression of anti-gay and just take the message from it's essence, it can apply to all families, gay or straight.
I think ultimately, regardless of who we love or how, we should be looking to strengthen the family unit, make a better role model of yourself for your children and instill basic values and good communication and most importantly acceptance. That beyond all else can be taken for every sort of couple and every family unit.
Does Kirk Cameron have the right to his religious views? You bet! Does he have the right to voice them? You better believe it!!
Do YOU need to listen to those views or words??? NO.
God gave you freedom to choose and men and women have died fighting for that right, so use it. Choose what you believe and live it.

Have you ever noticed that people who share their belief that gay marriage is wrong never name call, belittle, or personally attack a gay person? They just state what their belief is about gay marriage. They don't call the "other side" names, or threaten them in any way. However, the people on the "other side" ALWAYS personally attack the other person. There are MANY people who will never accept gay marriage because of their beliefs, Kirk is just brave enough to stand up and publicly state his opinion.

I support everyone's right to their opinion but not when it comes to a completely baseless argument, I am not talking about religion here; who and what you worship and believe in is completely up to you, I am Buddhist, I live in the United States and I don't go around using my religion to dictate how others live their lives. If this argument was about anything but discrimination I would be all for it but we all know it's not; and for Kirk Cameron to say that a gay household can't produce the ideal "family" like a straight one is ridiculous, straight families can be just as dysfunctional with evidence of this everywhere we look; that right there is belittling to the ones that think otherwise. To say that someone's family is worth less than your own because it doesn't look like your own is belittling.

If you're against gay marriage and you think it's perverted, or that homosexuals are not capable of providing a loving home. You are ignorant. Plain and simple. No offense, but it's true. It's proves you are uneducated, and that where your hate is derived from. Being ignorant and fearful is easy. God loves everyone, and gays are included. Love is love, and ignorance cannot change that. Homosexual lifestyles will be accepted in the U.S very soon.

  25. 25

Though I don't personally feel like Kirk Cameron was 'belittling' gay marriage in this particular video, I think it's interesting to analyze the kind of language that NOM uses in this video to avoid sounding like a bigoted organization. "Fight for Marriage". Isn't it interesting that the organization formed purely to Fight AGAINST marriage for millions of people uses this slogan? Just look at the organization itself! National Organization for Marriage. For marriage? Your whole purpose is to be AGAINST marriage for millions of people! Why don't we call a spade a spade and just tell it like it is. This is the organization AGAINST marriage, not for. Trying to make a discriminatory and bigoted organization sound nicer isn't going to change its message. And Perez, don't alienate your audience. Kirk Cameron did not belittle gay marriage in this particular video.

  29. 29

Re: Keri1022 – People against gay marriage try to sugar coat their bigotry under words like 'family', 'religion', 'tradition'. They do not come right out and say they want legislated discrimination, but that is the bottom line. It was the same back in the 60's when it was the 'opinion' of some people that schools should be segregated. They claimed not to be racist, they just wanted separate. Now we see it for blatant racism, and before long, people like Kirk will be seen as what they are - blatantly discriminatory.

Further to your misleading comment, many in my profession would argue the presence of a 'gay gene' which, in simple terms, does not make someone gay, but makes them predisposed to a desire for a homosexual lifestyle. No one considers it to a sickness unless that is a personal view; owever, it could be linked to genetics.

Furthermore, it is completely incorrect that my professional colleagues consider homophobia to be a sickness. Please educate yourself further before sharing controversial views which attempt to belittle my profession.

Don't say such disgusting things like that–because if you believe those, than you are an awful human being.

I completely agree with Perez. Kirk Cameron is just slowly dissolving whatever scrap of a career he had left. He's a pathetic, moronic Christian. There are two many of those in this country to begin with. He'll just be remembered as a bigot much like Anita Bryant.

The thing everyone is missing is very simple. It takes a man and woman to raise a child. Women provide the forgiveness, accepting, embracing things men will NEVER deliver. For anyone to think a man can be a woman and provide the same thing is like you believing a square can be a circle. It's not to say men can't be forviing, accepting and embracing, but not like a woman.

A man will be the law, it will be the disciplinarian, it will teach how to fend, it will show how to work with your hands, and do the manly things. Clearly I'm generalizing, but the main thing here is that, in EVERY gay relationship I've seen, you always have the feminine and masculine role… I rarely see 2 fems or 2 masculines together… There is a reason for this, because humans come from a male and a female, thus needing both roles.. its yin and yang…

I'm not saying good kids haven't grown up in gay families.. but you can't deny the balance needed to raise a child properly. If you do raise a child in a gay family, you will have to work on providing that yin and that yang, you can't have 2 men doing manly things not teaching the feminine side, and you cant have 2 fems raising a kid only for the kid to get smashed in the real world by masculine men. You need both.

    ITS ABOUT BALANCE YALL

Re: Keri1022 – You don't get on many forums do you? There's always extremists and bullies on any side. Just take a look at Mad Dog's post for proof lol.

Re: jadeashley – Same sex marriage will eventually become legal throughout the entire United States simply because; it encourages commitment, is financially easy to implement, provides a environment that's easier on the children of same sex couples, improves the physical and psychological health of homosexuals, as well as numerous other things.

  50. 50

Re: reallydoe – There's so much wrong with your post. Where to begin? First, how black and white do you see the world where you would think that the man has to be the disciplinarian and the woman has to be the nurturer? This isn't the middle ages, it's not the 1800's, it's not even the 1950's!

Second: Um, hello? What about single parents? Do you feel like they shouldn't be allowed to be parents? Millions and millions of people have grown up to be contributing, well-rounded members of society who grew up with single parents. So you're okay with singe parents, but add ANOTHER parent of the same gender and all fo the sudden something is lacking? How do we reason with someone who would believe this? No wonder your mindset is stuck in the 1950's.

Third, in your OWN post you admitted that you usually see a masculine man with a feminine man. Whether this is true or not, doesn't this satisfy your stereotypical mother/father relationship?

Hate is hate, no matter how sugar coated it is. NOM was created to pass prop 8 and is against gay adoption as well. When you want to keep two consenting adults who love each other from marrying and having the same rights as everyone else, there IS something wrong with you. And as far as gay adoption goes, I'm pretty sure a kid in an orphanage or a bad foster home would rather have two same-sex loving parents than none at all.

KIrk never belittled anyone. Let's look at where the hate and venom is coming from - examine the facts - it's called truth.
Truth is, you have an ugly heart and intend to harm. We live in a mixed up world. You are commiting a hate crime in my book for sure with your venom and choice of words. I don't see any hate coming from Kirk. Kirk expressed his views. Only his personal views. Last time I checked we were still allowed to have personal views based on OUR belief system. No hate at all, just his personal faith based standard for living - same as mine. I thank God, I am in the world, but not of the world. The g/l/bi's live under a lie, they are lost and headed to hell. Not my design, Gods. They should be pitied. They need the Lord. Kirk has God The Father, who will see him through this situation. Believers in Jesus can pray for the gay's who have been deceived that they find Jesus. I also thank God that He did not give up on me, that someone told me about His love for me and that Jesus died for my sin.

The great news is - God Loves You! I am so thankful that someone told me about Jesus.
He has changed my life! He want's to be your heavenly Father. He won't hit you over the head. Trying seeking Him, you will find Him It's a spiritual thing. : ) Just like scripture is God breathed for His children. A love letter to His kids. We are all Gods creation, but we don't become His child, until we have Jesus. Who died for our sins. Sounds weird and wacking - but it's true.
    2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness
    Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
