Queen Rules British… Pop Charts?!

Queen Bohemian Rhapsody

In celebration of their 60-year anniversary, Britain's Official Singles Chart polled the nation to find out people's favorite songs of all time in the UK.

And the winner is…

Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody!

The rest of the top five was comprised of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean, Adele's Someone Like You, Oasis's Don't Look Back In Anger, and The Beatles' Hey Jude.

Bohemian Rhapsody, a perennial karaoke favorite, went platinum both when it was first released in 1975 and again after singer Freddie Mercury's death in 1991.

The operatic song is also largely responsible for video killing the radio star, as it was the first wildly successful music video.

And we still have NO IDEA what "scaramouch" means!

what's the surprise? It's stil a great piece of rock, with great musicians and a voice that is really a voice.
And the lyrics.. "Nothing really matters… anyone can see. Nothing really matters, nothing really matters to meeeeee (Anyway the wind blows..).
In 2012 you can put this one or "Radio GaGa", or "Breakthrough", and everybody will start dancing. And you can play "Love of my life" and everybody will start singing.
God how I miss Freddie and the Queen..

Scaramouche is a roguish clown character of the Italian commedia dell'arte who wears a black mask

this story also supports a long held belief. old rock 35 to 55 years old is still being played on the radio daily. NONE of the current crappy acts and songs will played in 3 years, much less 30. pop music killed music.
