Dark Knight Shooting Largest In U.S. History

Sick, sick, sick! We're just so sick over this whole thing!

As you probably know by now, 71 people were horrifically victimized early Friday morning at the Aurora, CO Century 16 movie theater, when James Holmes opened fire on movie goers who had stayed up late to catch the midnight screening of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.

It has now come to light that with 12 fatalities and 59 injuries, this disgusting, senseless incident has gone down in history as the most extensive mass-shooting EVER in the United States.

While many details have emerged as to the who, what, when and where, the how and why are still very much unknown, especially since James supposedly entered the movie theatre through exit doors, which are generally locked from the outside.

Well, according to new reports, the gunman actually BOUGHT a ticket to the premiere and sat in the theater for a good 15 minutes before leaving through the designated exits to the back parking lot.

Upon exiting, James allegedly propped the door open, went to his car, parked it right by the door, grabbed his various weapons and re-entered to cause his destruction.

Obviously, this was a pre-meditated, thought-out plan coming from an obviously deeply disturbed, psychotic individual.

Now, in response to this harrowing crime, AMC theaters nationwide are amping up security, and have banned costumes/props that could potentially make movie-goers uncomfortable.

We're glad that theaters are taking this deadly incident seriously, although HOPEFULLY this is an isolated occurrence…

A movie theater. It's something that exits purely for entertainment, to bring people together under a joyous, common experience.

Who would have thought someone could desecrate such an innocent past time?

Why are you dignifying this slimeball by addressing him by his first name? You should call him for what he is: Asshole

It was actually a Cinemark owned theater.

    Yay. Ban costumes, not guns.

I'm sure nobody thought anything about him in a mask or vest. There were so many people dressed like Bane at the midnight showing I went to. I'm sure people didn't think anything of it unitl he pulled guns out.
I don't really care if they amp up security at movie theaters now. Whatever makes people feel better. But I've read people are blaming the movie and the character Bane. Blaming everything but the sick person who did this. It's just ridiculous.

Re: sick_girl – I agree with you. I don't live in the United States, but I would rather have higher security measures taken so that this won't happen again. And this shooting could have happened anywhere. The guy probably chose this because he knew it would be popular.

    Re: sick_girl

Exactly. The blame is solely in this s.o.b insanity. Tons of people see way more violent movies or play violent games and listen to violent music without doing crazy stuff like this. I use to play RockStar games all the time and I don't go shooting people or beating them up with baseball bats.
The thing is, these people already have a troubled mind.

I also do not understand how he was able to re-enter the theater through an emergency exit, they are normally locked from the outside to prevent people from sneaking in without buying a ticket, unless he put a wedge or something to keep it partly open.

Millions remain in shock over the senseless murder of twelve movie goers. Americans are a compassionate people, they are not only concerned with their own lives but with the well-being of others. It is a time for sharing; the prosperous must pay more taxes so others can have a better and longer life.

Re: limboland la la – I guess you're being sarcastic. The gun did not kill anyone. The troubled, mentally off person that pulled the trigger did. A gun is an inanimate object. They don't shoot themselves.

Re: sick_girl – "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

It's sad you say that. Out of 150+ million firearms in a nation of 311 million people, and a single guy does this and you want the entire country to go lockdown mode. You are aware that ticket prices will be even higher right? What you should be asking is why they do not have a camera outside in the parking lot, or on the side door. You're just another sheep that is a victim of fear mongering. American's and american media is known for it.

Re: NookiesWA – If they didn't heighten security I wouldn't give a shit either. I literally do not care either way. Security or not I'm still going to the movies.

Sadly this is my neighborhood. I have taken my 4 year old son to countless movies, and have personally attended numerous midnight showings. it's so tragic and scary that I live just down the street. This can happen to anyone at any time anywhere. </3

What's wrong with Colorado? so many shootings in schools, now in movie theaters! you guys need help and stronger laws against weapons, too many crazy people, and also what's with the Batman movies? first Heath Ledger dies tragically and now this? its wrong, just wrong. poor people.

Actually, it's not even the biggest mass shooting in the United States' recent history. The Virginia Tech Massacre killed 32 and that was only five years ago.
