Christian Bale Expresses 'The Horror' He Feels Over Dark Knight Massacre

| Filed under: Film FlickersChristian Bale

christian bale colorado shooting statement

We've heard Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan's statement, and now we get to hear Christian Bale's.

Following the unbelievable shooting spree that took place during a midnight screening of Dark Knight Rises and killed twelve, Christian expresses his feelings on the matter:

"Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."

As do ours.

Warner Bros. cancelled the Paris premiere of the film in light of the circumstances. They've also decided to mute the box office reporting until Monday.

We just can't get over this. So senseless!

why is it senseless? we're a nation of crazies! we screw with everyone and destroy peoples lives everyday when we go to work ( except for a few ones), we bully our friends, we bully our co-workers, you bully celebrities, we all worship greed. we see people humiliate each other on tv. we have no values. i just don't understand why destroying ourselves doesn't make sense.

He is a jerk…we were all full of horror when he went on his rant a couple of years ago…he is an ego-maniac and realize we could care less about what he says…he is a worthless actor getting paid millions to be in a violent movie…he should think how these movies give the mentally ill ideas….just sayin….all violent movies should be banned…Our world needs to become more caring and loving…the violence is senseless.

Already read HOURS ago on another site. You are way slow. Don't get why you're so popular. I guess you have a few die hards that follow you all over and you are their only news source to boot. Sad.

People are talking about letting Christian go to the hospital, dressed as Batman to visit the victims, and show them that the hero is true… give people hope of some sort.. do you think this is realistic? I don't think he'd do it though… it's hard to be confronted with such tragedy….

I love that the people who are saying the world needs to be caring and loving are the same people calling him a jerk and dismissing what I'm sure are sincere words because of his reputation. Way to caring and loving….

I respect that he said something, and he said it well…no one can imagine their pain.

Re: yup – If its movies that are to blame for people with mental illnesses coming up with these ideas, how do you explain someone like Jack the Ripper? Sick people will come up with ways to hurt people, regardless of what's in the movies.

HOW PATHETIC; Christian Bale only cares about his next million dollar paycheck….

Another thing: both presidential candidates have pulled their attack ads from Colorado for the time being. Personally, I don't think either side would have stood for that kind of crap in the midst of a tragedy such as this.

I hope everyone will make enough noise that he goes to the hospital to visit those families. I think it would mean a lot to the victims. 12 people died to see that movie and tons were injured. I think I'll lose a lot of respect for him if he doesn't go.

    C´mon people!
Sick People are sick, no matter how many movies watch or how many books read.
And please stop with "the movies gives mentally ill ideas"
I love Batman, and no matter how violence I see and read in the comics or in the movies, I´ll NEVER shoot anyone. The movies, the books, are not the problem.
And … What do you do for the people that die or get injured that day? aha, well that´s what i meant …
