Sounds like Mariah Carey won't be too expensive after all!

According to strong reports, Butterfly is just a hop and a skip away from signing the final dotted line into American Idol's judging seat.

And guess how much she'll demand on her paycheck??

She's going to make a record-breaking $17M+ … … … that's INSANE!!

…insanely fabulous! …'dahlings!' ;)

And just a reminder — Aretha Franklin has expressed interest in one of the other judging seats. So if they both make it, that is gonna be one soul-tastic show! Can't wait!!

    I don't watch every week but I like idol. I can not stand hearing Mariah Carey baby talk. I think I could completely stop watching if she got it.

    Have any of you guys ever watched Mariah Carey… candidly? Bitch is funny as hell and blunt; definitely something we need on this show! I liked J.Lo (even though she lacked talent), but I hated how she would baby all the contestants. If you wanna be a judge, you're gonna have to be real. I would watch the show on a regular basis just to see Mariah act like her fabulous crazy self.

    seriously MARIAH is the answer to this show's problems. She is actually business savvy and can really help those kids. and i wouldn't mind hearing her sing a capella here and there on the show. her new single triumphant is gonna be amazing!!! Team Mariah! She is the best!

    Watch out for Mariah Carey's latest single coming out this early August entitled Triumphant!! She and Christina Aguilera were about to release single and albums at the same time. Exciting!!

    I love me some Mariah, but I'm not sure she can save this sinking turd of a show. Who the hell even won this season? Or last? Or for the last 5 years? My "give a shit" meter just doesn't register with this show anymore.

    I love Mariah and always have but the question I have is, if they are paying Mariah the 17 Million then why didn't they just pay that same amount to JLO, because that is what she was aksing? I would still love to have JLO also! She and Steven will be missed for sure!

    Re: xcalibur – No offense but what the hell does Aretha Franklin's weight have to do with her impact on the history of music exactly. No Aretha no Janis, no Madonna no Cher ect. Franklin changed the game, yes she is a diva but unlike these auto tuned morons out and about today she can back that up vocally and actually play piano. She doesn't just know now singing she knows MUSIC. Unlike the joke that just got fired (Lopez). I don't have to love Aretha to respect the foundation she laid down.
