Gangster Squad May Be Getting Severely Re-Cut Or Delayed In Light Of Colorado Shootings.

| Filed under: Film FlickersRyan GoslingSad Sad

And the devastating effects of mass shooting at the Colorado midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises keep rippling on out…

In light of the tragedy, Warner Brothers has already pulled the theatrical trailer of the gun-heavy Gangster Squad from the film, and now, they are considering going even FURTHER…by delaying the crime drama's release or even heavily re-cutting certain sequences!

According to sources within the studio, bosses are deeply conflicted about what to do with the Ryan Gosling flick, and out of respect to the victims and their families, are considering re-editing - or cutting entirely - a sequence in the film during which Mafia members open fire on a movie theater filled with terrified audience members.

If not, the period piece may just be pushed back from its initial September 7th release date.

Such a difficult call to make - we certainly don't envy those with these kind of decisions weighing on their shoulders.

Here's hoping that whatever happens, it's with sensitivity and those most closely affected by this senseless, awful crime in mind.

I think that the whole situation is really sad, but I do not think that they should edit the movie. We cannot let an idiot such as James Holms "change" our everyday life. The movie was filmed with that scene and therefore it should be shown with that scene.

Warner Brtohers could maybe delay the premiere… and nothing else!

This is crap! Every day people are murdered, and no one wants to delay anything but something like this happens and people are demanding guns be banned, delay of movies like that. Are we going to get rid of war movies next?

  3. 3

Right, respect out of victims of this shooting. Weekend before July 4th, 40 people were shot in Chicago, many died. Anything get recut out of respect to them? Of course not! Did anyone demand movies get recut or delayed after the Fort Hood shooting? Nope!

Let a mass murderer edit a movie there is a reward. That should make him really happy.

THE MOVIE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!!! he could have easily shot up the theater while the smurfs was playing and we'd be hearing about a ban on CGI movies (which I am for)…this is such fucking bullshit…one person goes a little cray cray and suddenly everyone over fucking reacts…this was a crazy person doing a crazy thing…not a normal person who was made insane by the movie…

What happened in Aurora is tragic and incredibly sad, but art shouldn't be censored. We see just as much if not more violence daily in this world. Gangster Squad is rated accordingly and adults should be able to see it unedited. We can't let the terrible actions of one terrible person start to control everyday life. I understand tightening gun laws and monitoring who purchases them but editing film, tv, music or any other art form is not going to prevent what happened from ever happening again. This is simply people pointing the finger at something because they are desperate for an answer. I hope they don't edit the film, even the scene in a movie theater. Art is art and as long as it isn't hurting anyone, which it isn't, then let it be released the way it is.

Once again the guilty person wins! Movies have nothing to do with this. Gun control would have helped this.No one person needs this many guns and it should not be so simple to obtain.. People need to raise your kids and teach them real and fake. Movies are entertainment and kids should be raised to enjoy them. This whole situation is horrible and sad but the movies are not to blame here.

I know what happened was terrible but the movie should be left as it is.

I'm sorry I do feel that the Colorado tragedy is very sad, tragic and something no family should go through but for distributors like Warner Brothers to severely cut Gangster Squad (which could be Oscars biggest movie) because of a crazed lunatic is wrong in my book. Why? because a simple cut can ruin the movie. Plus Batman had nothing to do with this issue. He had this planned and strapped up like someone from a swat team. Don't blame media for someone else's insanity.

I honestly dont think they should do anything to change the movie. If we do, then the shooter wins. I know people are sick of hear that sentence all over the internet this past weekend, but heavily editing the movie wont help anything except for, you guessed it, the shooter himself. If Warner Bros absolutely NEEDS to change something because they think it's right, then just push the movie back. Dont change it

Americans are stupid and pathetic. One single guy out of 311 million people went on a shooting spree of this caliber in 5 years, and people whine to ban guns, people whine to have things censored, people blamed religion, people even brought up and made this about race (lol)…People are just dumb, no other way of putting it. Kind of like how a thousand or so 'terrorists' can basically cripple this entire country..fun shit.

Isn't the USA proud of being the land of the free? Because this re-cuts, if forced or heavily incited sounds like censorship to me. This whole shooting situation was pretty sad, but people are killed by guns every single day…so technically all action movies are "disrespectful".
If someone feels like they can't handle this scene, don't watch the movie…simple as that. But there is no right to edit a movie, unless it is proven that said scene was filmed by commiting a ilicital act, like for instance, really killing an animal for a scene or the actor buying real drugs.
