James Holmes' Mother Stands Behind Son

We can't even begin to imagine the weight pressing down on Arlene Holmes - the mother of 'suspected' Dark Knight Rises mass-murderer James Holmes - concerning her son's horrific actions…

In Friday's initial reports, Arlene supposedly responded to an ABC News reporter by stating:

"You have the right person… I need to call the police. I need to fly out to Colorado."

However, according to a statement issued today by Holmes' family, her words were taken out of context, and she never confirmed she knew her son to be a killer.

The statement alleges that Arlene was awakened by a phonecall in which a reporter asked if she was Arlene Holmes and if her son was James Holmes. She responded with "Yes, you have the right person."

According San Diego attorney Lisa J. Damiani, who issued Arlene's statement to the press, the family stands behind their son.

"This statement is to clarify a statement made by ABC media. I was awakened by a call from a reporter by ABC on July 20 about 5:45 in the morning. I did not know anything about a shooting in Aurora at that time. He asked if I was Arlene Holmes and if my son was James Holmes who lives in Aurora, Colorado. I answered yes, you have the right person. I was referring to myself.

I asked him to tell me why he was calling and he told me about a shooting in Aurora. He asked for a comment. I told him I could not comment because I did not know if the person he was talking about was my son, and I would need to find out. "

you said the other day you didnt want to think about this guy anymore, so stop posting about the scumbag, we get all we need on the news channels

What dishonest, disgusting and sloppy reporting. ABC and like media should be ashamed. Anything for a soundbite or some other tidbit to feed the rumor mill.

  3. 3

James Holmes should have gone to the Teen Choice awards and not the Batman premiere.

  4. 4

Perez I love you and will always be a reader. But this story is absolutely fabricated. At NO time does anything you posted that the mother said show even the slightest indication she stands behind her son. That topic was never discussed. All she said was a clarification of her earlier remarks. Even the quote you posted has her saying she couldn't comment cause she didn't know if the shooter was her son or not. I'm all for sensationalism, but this headline is just plain made up and should be taken down.

What would be the difference between this and me saying "Perez Hilton supports these shootings and others like them" simply because you wrote about them? Seriously, clean this up please, it's offensive and disrespectful.

I wouldn't be surprised she stands behind the monster she created. Maybe she knows very well what went down on his childhood to cause a monster to be on this world.

I believe that… the media loves taking stuff out of context just to have material.

P.S. you just did the same thing by putting up a false headline. Nowhere does she say 'she stands by her son'.

As a child psychologist and a mom, I can't help but think about James Holmes' mother. Did she help create a monster or was she just as loving to her son as I am to mine. I've been asking readers: What would you do if you were James Holmes mother? I'd love to know your response:

    I AGREE WITH SASHASKYE

  13. 13

Re: The Mommy Psychologist – I know more times than not there tends to be trauma in people's past that drives them to do things like this, but I know that there are cases where that wasn't the case. In my opinion those are the scariest. I am not a parent so I can't answer your question. Knowing myself I probably couldn't stand behind something like this, no matter the relationship.

Just look at all the people trying to downplay the importance of this incident or shrug it off as "one of those things." There's a reason that nothing adds up in this story of a lone gunman on unemployment with ties to his University's Neuroscience Department (similar to Theodore Kaczynski, a.k.a. the Unabomber, who was a volunteer in mind-control experiments sponsored by the CIA at Harvard in the late 1950s) that suddenly went berserk, yet docilely allowed himself to be arrested. The UN Arms Trade Treaty is slated to be signed by Obama on July 27 — just 1 week away. It has been identified as a flagrant threat to the second amendment. Its roots are in a 1961 State Department memorandum which explains how the United Nations will oversee “complete disarmament” of the American people under the ruse of preventing war.

As this anti-gun bill was about to be signed, all that was lacking was the support of the American people after they became convinced that taking away guns was a good thing. It just needed a catalyst — and now we've got one. Surprise, surprise.

Re: misscheriamor – If this man had been black, latino or anything other than White then time would not be wasted pondering his motives, whether or not he was bullied as a child,or loved by his parents. Time would not be wasted having sympathy for an assumed mental illness or childhood trauma that more than likely doesnt exist. If he had been Black then no one would be contemplating the struggles that might have driven him to such an act. But he's white…so maybe he's insane…poor boy must've been bullied as well

standing behind your son is quite strong words for someone who shot 60 innocent people in a theatre. I dont take his recent picture too seriously, he is probably not remorseful. Just that he got caught so fast. This guy did not anticipate that the cops would have already been around the building. they didnt get there in one and a half minutes, they were already there which is why he was caught. he also didnt anticipate that the world would be against him and his fellow jail mates would chant kid killer which in my oppinion he deserves. This guy will play mental to try to get out of jail where he will continue to terrorize. having said that, i feel for his mother because i am sure she is having a hard time seeing her son petrayed as I just did

I feel bad for this guy, BECAUSE HE IS A VICTIM OF MIND CONTROL. What a unlucky guy, he got picked for this sick position because he was a smart guy and like any of us, easy to control. THE AURORA THEATER MASSACRE WAS A FALSE FLAG ATTACK. WHY DO THIS? UM HMMM BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT WANT US TO HAVE GUNS WHEN THE TIME COMES. THEY DON'T WANT US SHOOTING AT THEM WHEN THE TIME COMES. FALSE FLAG PEOPLE WAKE UP

Re: sweety – Do you really think this country needs another reason to ban guns so desperately that the government would send a brainwashed gunman into a packed movie theatre? Get a clue. This shooting isn't going to change the opinion of Obama's decision to sign that treaty. If anything it will draw more opposition because people will feel the need to protect themselves even more. Put the conspiracy theories away and use you own brain.

Do you people honestly believe what they are saying on the news?
How do any of you even know he is the shooter!? You are simply being good boys and girls and believing what the media tells you. Now Perez would know better than most just how much the media bends the truth.

I firmly believe that James is innocent and was set up, it has happened many times before. He was never seen shooting, the shooter was wearing a mask. Most witnesses have all stated that the shooter was 5 foot 8 to 5 foot 9, James is 6 foot 3!! a massive difference.
He was drugged before he went in to court, who drugged him and why did they not want him to be able to think and to communicate?
PLEASE have a heart, have some empathy, if James was your son or brother, how would you feel if people were jumping to conclusions and saying that he was guilty just because of the shonky info they have heard on the news. Police and the gov are corrupt, think for your self! If you would like to read a good story without a agenda or paid for, see:

Also a good video on how easy it is to manipulate and hypnotise someone to kill without even realising they are doing it.
Keep in mind that the CIA uses much more sophisticated methods such as drugs (google MK Ultra) they have been caught out doing experiments on mind control to get innocent people to kill before.

Re: Jason – I tend to agree with you that things don't add with this guy, and he did seem drugged in court (could barely keep his eyes upon), his father's work and connections seem oddly coincidental, nothing in his past seems that there is any anger or hostility, definitely not a sociopath, possibly a shizophrenic, remotely possible that he is a "sacrificial lamb" for something nefarious. Odd that they have blocked court proceedings, so that we the viewers cannot view his responses….

Re: Shuddafuxkup – The mother said she was trying to get him to seek counselling. None of you have any idea what mental illness can do. At the time they don't believe anything is wrong with them. Society shuns them. He had no friends. Had someone been living with him, they would have noticed his deteriorating mental State and yes the mother would be shocked by what he had done, but i doubt he was a horrible son and a much loved son i would hope and i am sure she is torn in two by what happened. Parents would also blame themselves wondering what happened and if i did this or if i did that. Psychiatrists also keep patient doctor confidentiality, so i doubt the parents were informed or get up to date. Plus the psychiatrist warned the school but nothing was done. He was okay to the school, so long as he had a brilliant mind, but not okay due to a mental health problem that made his grades fail and leaving the school.
