Mayor Bloomberg Urges Obama & Romney To Speak On Gun Control

| Filed under: Legal MattersPolitikBarack ObamaSad SadPerezTV

After the horrific Dark Knight killings where James Holmes shot 12 dead and injured 59 using a LEGALLY purchased AR-15 assault rifle, Remmington 12-guage shotgun and 2 40-caliber glock handguns, the nation-wide debate on gun control has re-ignited with a ferverence.

NYC Mayor Bloomberg, who is renowned for enforcing strict gun control laws, appeared on CBS' Face The Nation and called upon President Obama and Gov. Romney to publicly provide concrete plans of action in regards to gun control, rather than the generic, vague statements they've recently been issuing.

Check out Bloomberg's commendable request (above).

People may kill people, but it's a hell of a lot harder to kill people - especially a whole bunch of people - without a gun!

Just saying.

    Two things…
(1.) I'm a republican who thinks (2.) Bloomberg needs to STFU.

    Go fuck yourself bloomberg!!!

I think everyone in the US should carry a gun just to see how safe you feel.

This is the same asshole who wants to police the sizes of sodas people can buy, right? Bloomberg is a douche. Gun laws aren't going to stop criminals from getting guns; gun laws are like door locks, which are for innocent people (ask anyone who breaks into houses how useful locks really are). Has Bloomberg forgotten that our Constitution guarantees us the right to bear arms? When he's managed to eradicate gun crime in NYC, then Bloomberg can open his mouth. Until then, I want him to shut it and keep it shut. He likes the sound of his own voice WAY too much.

Gun control is not the answer. I don't own a gun, but I'll tell you just like drugs if someone wants it they can get it.

The problem is not with gun control, it is with societies attitude towards guns and each other. I don't know of any other country where the people are so afraid of their neighbors and feel the need to have guns to protect their families. Of all the enemies the states have, it is sad that the people they are most afraid of are each other. Until that changes, and I have no idea how to make it change, guns will continue to be a problem.

How about Mr. Bloomberg deal with the crime in New York City and let the people of Aurora decide how they wish to interpret their Second Amendment rights. That crazy person was GOING to kill a large group of people - guns or not. He had booby-trapped his apt with explosives. A molotov cocktail could have just as easily produced the number of deaths his shooting did. We obviously cannot BAN everything that is harmful because the state feels the need to babysit. This problem has nothing to do with guns, but everything to do with a culture OBSESSED with sadism, death and violence. How about we don't let our children play Grand Theft Auto 24 hours per day? How about we have jobs so that some parents can actually stay home and RAISE their children? How about we stop letting our children watch the satanic, violent, gore and torture filled videos and movies?

Gun control would only make things worse, the people that want to get guns will just get guns from other countries. This will only cause problems because if thiefs and murderers have a gun and you don't, your screwed, self defense is most important. Being a mom of 3 young kids, and a husband that works alot of nights, if someone breaks in my house, you better believe im going to protect us all.

If anyone else in that theater had been armed, maybe there wouldn't have been so many casualties. There are responsible, non-violent, gun owners. We should't be punished because of this jerk. I don't want to live in a world where only the bad guys carry guns. Do you?

Perez is STOOPID-AGIAN…ever hear of a bomb ? You insignificant tiny minded nat of bug-you never think things out.

Because criminals won't be able to get guns if we have stricter gun control laws. Here's a shocker: criminals don't give a flying frog fart what the laws are & will still get guns. I rather arm the law abiding citizen & let them carry conceal to help prevent crimes. Police can only respond to crimes. Too bad politicians aren't letting the dust settle so people can mourn those lives that were lost.

  13. 13

It has been over a year since I have visited this site - now I remember why I quit looking at this site. Perez is an idiot. Holmes was set on killing - it was not the guns that did the killing it was Holmes himself. If he had not had access to guns he would have done it some other way. Putting the blame on guns is like saying you are fat because of the fork.

Bloomberg's an asshole. Talk about exploiting a tragedy. Go fuck yourself, asswipe.

Gun Control only makes it more difficult for honest citizens to arm themselves…Criminals will get a hold of guns no matter what laws are passed.
Perhaps if Colorado had a Concealed Carry Permit Law like my state does—one of the hundreds of people in that theater likely would have been armed. Show me one freak killer who doesn't run the other way when fired back upon.

  16. 16

i will never understand why he thinks that government can solve all our problems, including size of the soft drinks we can get in NYC.

  17. 17

I wish this twat would shut up.. This twat is simply using a tragedy to further an agenda. Fact of the matter is he knows nothing about firearms. Most people blabbing do not. NY is a borderline police state. How many stories do you hear of cops being out of control in NY? Worst part is, since most of the liberal news is based in NY a lot of it never sees the light of day. A cop can racially profile you, and illegally search you which directly violates your 4th amendment right with NO REASON WHAT SO EVER. This is also a city that tries to dictate and ban what you can consume simply because they deem it to be unhealthy (big gulp soda ban)..Do you really want to listen to this twat? Crime is way, way high in NY. What a weird coincidence, the stricter the gun laws, the rate of crime goes up. The three most liberal states in the nation (CA,IL,NY) are also THE WORST to live in. Odd huh?

The shooters in Columbine, as well as Virgina tech both did not use the incorrect term 'assault rifle' they used pistols. The Columbine shooting claimed the lives of 13 he used -THIRTEEN- 10 round magazines. The other person used a 52 rd, 32 rd and 28 round mag shooting a total of 55 times. The Virgina tech massacre claimed 32 peoples lives. He used a 20rd extended mag and there were 31 deaths. All 3 men used a much weaker caliber then what the guy used at this shooting.

Peoples attack on the incorrectly named "assault" rifle holds little to no merit at all. For someone with a much higher caliber with a much higher magazine capacity being IN COMPLETE CONTROL over the situation and he actually claimed less lives than those 3 who uses pistols and much smaller capacities? Right. You can't sit there and go "zomg ban 'assault' rifles because they have too many bullets oh noes" when both major shootings previously were done by pistols, less ammo and CLAIMED more lives. (So far)

I guess people also do not understand that people with high mag capacities are more prone to 'spray and pray' than to take their time and aim, and more prone to jamming. Mind blowing people aren't even acknowledging the numbers at hand.
