Timothy Courtois And His Guns Biddeford Maine Speeding Backpack Theater Boss Shoot

More guns in theaters? This news is beyond frightening.

State Police pulled over a man driving 112 mph on the Maine Turnpike. When searching Timothy Courtois's vehicle, law enforcement found an assault rifle, several handguns, many boxes of ammunition, and newspaper clippings of the tragic Colorado shootings.

After questioning the driver, police realized Timothy had just watched The Dark Knight Rises and smuggled several of those guns into the theater via his backpack.

While Timothy never stated any intentions to hurt anyone in the theater, he admitted he was driving to New Hampshire to gun down his former employer.

At this point, it's not clear to what extent he was provoked by the mass shootings in Aurora nor can we be sure whether he planned to harm anyone beyond his old boss.

We're honestly just thankful this disturbed individual was arrested before he could harm anyone.

When state police and federal agents searched his home, they found a verifiable arsenal.

Timothy is eligible to be released on bail and is scheduled for court on August 23.

Do U think releasing him for the time being is a wise decision?

He should be allowed to get as many guns as he wants. They shouldn't be regulated AT ALL. He should be able to carry assault rifles and 1000 bullets if he feels like it. Right to bear arms, WORSHIP IT.

So glad I don't live in a country where any nutcase can walk into a gun shop and load up. Not sure who is crazier, the nutcase or the country that would allow it.

    I agree with ElleFromVan.

    Jumperchu - you are delusional.

Just another responsible gun owner armed to the teeth. Re: Jumperchu – And maybe he can use them on your family and you can go visit him in prison and tell him you support him.

This man lives two blocks from me I'm pretty sure the 2nd amendment doidn't intend to cover the building of an arsenol…

Applications for gun ownership is up 41% since the killings in the theatre. If someone in their theatre had a gun with them, this lunatic could have been killed and lives would have been saved.

I do not think people should be allowed to buy AK47's and

Regulating gun ownership is not going to keep them out of the hands of lunatics. If anything, it's going to keep them out of the hands of the innocent people that need them to defend themselves and their families.

    Gun control !
    Banish ALL guns, rifles, whatever.
No concealed weapons. No weapons under one's pillow, hidden under one's bed.
(Unless you are a hunter and then you can go and rent a rifle!)
We are in the 21st century, not in the wild wild West.

How long will you Americans refuse to understand such a simple concept ?

Re: overthere – yeah cause banning stuff really deters criminals! Examples: prohibition and drugs. If someone wants something they're going to get it! Banning guns will only keep them from innocent and responsible people who want to protect themselves! If laws against murder don't deter them what makes you think laws against guns will?

I don't know why it should be legal to have a gun for personal use at all. It's illegal in the UK and we don't have nearly as many massacres as the US. The system works.

Re: Sarah_smiles – Your country is only 94,526 sq miles (244,820 sq km), the US is 3,794,100 sq miles (9,826,675 sq km) so I believe a police force (or national guard) would be dispatched is plenty of time to stop a killer. In the US on the other hand, it could be a long time before the police reaches the scene, plus the killer could have made a getaway by then. I believe that banning guns would be a horrible thing to do, There would be massive riots, and public demonstrations, not to mention the use of firearms would go up while the police is directed towards the riots. It would be a very bad idea. Just look to the prohibition over here in the 1920's.
