Modern Family Adult Cast Starts Lawsuit Against ABC

Threats! Lawsuits! Squabbles over cash!

This is EXACTLY how real families act!

Ed O'Neil joined forces with the rest of Modern Family's adult cast and together they've filed a lawsuit against their network ABC.

Sofia Vergara, Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Eric Stonestreet are scheduled to make $65k while Al Bundy Ed is scheduled to make $105k per episode in the upcoming fourth season, but none of the actors feel they're being compensated fairly.

While the $200k per they're requesting may seem a little steep, reports have ABC making over $160 mil off advertising revenue alone from the show last season. The network certainly afford to pay.

Contract disputes are par for the course with off-season drama but this lawsuit is especially troubling because it comes the day the cast was supposed to meet at the studios for the first table read of the new year.

The table read was canceled, obviously, but were no longer sure what to expect from the Emmy winning show!!

Do U think the network should cave to their demands or demand that they complete their agreed upon contracts??

Drives me insane when actors pull this shit. Good shows have to go off the air all the time because the actors think they deserve massive payouts for every episode and before you know it, it's too expensive to produce the show. Maybe if ABC grew some balls and just said, "peace out," maybe they'll accept their measly $65,000 per episode. Oh, the horror!

Oh boo hoo. I hate it when you hear about TV show actors holding out for more cash. Be grateful you have a job that pays more than most people will ever see. It's pretty bold to go up against the people who can just cancel your show and leave you with no job.

And THIS is why cable is so expensive! These salaries are ridiculous

You read that the studio made $160 million. Is that gross revenue or net revenue? I agree with the comments preceding mine. Did the actors ever think that the show is a success due to the great writing, yet you do not see the writers making these crazy demands. It takes a lot of people to put a show together, and the more money the actors demand, the less money there is for the production crew. They should chill out and not be so reckless with their unreasonable demands. Greedy greedy greedy.

  5. 5

Greed is never a good thing. Sooo many under paid people in the world–actors are NOT one of them.

  6. 6

These pricks are paid way more than they should be to pretend for a living. If it was up to me I'd cancel the fucking show entirely and let them figure out what hit them, the greedy fucks. Millions are struggling to make ends meet in this country, and those greedy bastards want even more?

$160 million aired with repeats over an entire year would be $3-4 million per episode abc earns. its a half hour show. ABC has shows that lose money, and better shows have to compensate for the stickers till the new season. ABC has to make a profit and have money to pay for pilots. DVDs are NOT selling anymore. The success of the show allows the actors to get lucrative commercial contracts and get movie roles. A half hour sitcom should be a stepping stone or way to gain a small fortune(not to earn hundreds of millions). As soon as they get a raise raiting will start to slide anyways…

I'm not sure how you can get out of a contract after signing it; I suppose the actors are trying to renegotiate based on some loophole. In any regard, these actors' demands for more money is pretty sickening. Yes, they're talented, but don't think for a second that someone wouldn't do just as good a job as any one of them for probably 1/5 the pay (or less). ABC really should show these actors just how disposable each one of them really is. That these people make so much more than scientists makes me sad.

Once again, whinging celebs who forget the rest of us can barely pay our water bills. Offers still open Hollywood, I just want to be part of it all. I work cheap, really, for free, & will show up every day without complaint.

[re=6129358]Re: Lady Who? Do you watch this show? It has a gay couple with a child on it! The shock! The horror!

The grammar and spelling in this article are absolutely appalling. Does no-one proof read these stories?

Re: kappuhcheenoh – I would really like to understand how it could be a shock or horror…the show portraits family- life and so what: Two gay men who are married and are raising a child is not a family and even shocking to you? You might want to think about that, ’cause this is not 1964 anymore!!!

  14. 14

sorry but none of the actors are worth $200,000.

Everyone in Hollywood is over paid, it's just how it is. I don't think it's fair for the other actors to receive a different amount, but I do find it disturbing that Ed makes in one episode what most people don't even make in a year.

I wonder if they realize, they do not have a career outside this show. Anyone remember George from Grey's? Exactly.

  17. 17

I had to pay for my McDouble with change today, but I'll sleep better knowing Sophia Vergara is making more money in a week than 95 percent of americans will make in 2 years

they are so greedy. a lot of people in not only america but all around the world don't even have jobs and they're complaining because they want over 100K?? seriously, actors/actress' need to get over themselves.

  20. 20

Love this show but can someone say GREEEDY!! Cancel it. Maybe that'll teach them a lesson.

Just give it to them, the show is a hit in the key demographics, those horrible actors on "Friends" were getting $600k per episode by this time, and that show wasn't even funny. Happy Endings, now there's a funny ass show!

  22. 22

The show isn't that great. To pay that kind of money is absolutely absurd. I don't know who these pppl think they are but they are not that great. The salaries of show biz ppl and sports figures are ridiculous. The thing is, all of us dumb down ppl are the ones that are paying these salaries. We make minimum wage up to maybe 20 bucks an hour if we are lucky and we are paying those high salaries. Something is so very wrong with this picture but we keep doing it.
