Russell Brand Plans On Doing Less Movies To Focus On Comedy Career

Before Russell Brand was a huge movie star, he was a really successful stand-up comedian. Now that his late-night show BrandX has been on the air for a few weeks, he's ready to return to his roots.
Despite a new love interest and a successful film career, the Get Him To The Greek star recently revealed that he's felt "a bit unfulfilled" lately, saying:
"I started to feel a little bit unfulfilled. I missed being around an audience, I missed being really honest and truthful."
He continued to explain that being an actor was a natural progression, but now he's happy getting "cast in things once in a while" and elaborated:
"People went, 'Do you want to star in movies?' I went, 'All right, I'll try all of that.' But now I know what 'that' is, I think I'll just get cast in things once in a while. Having investigated it, I now think, 'No, stay true to what it is you actually do and what you're supposed to do.' And that is comedy, about things that are challenging and unsettling but ultimately very warm and loving."
While he seems to favor working on his new show, fans of Russell's appearances on the silver screen shouldn't be too disappointed because he added:
"I'm going to continue to make films because I think they're prestigious and they can be really enjoyable. But I suppose as an artist you want to be engaged creatively by what you do in a real way, so yeah, certainly I feel more directly engaged by this show."
We're glad he's found something that he truly enjoys and hope it lasts. Still, we hope he continues to make LOLtastic comedies for us to watch at the movie theater!

He's not funny and he always looks like he needs a shower and his clothes need to be washed. Don't get the appeal.
He needs to focus on showering and shaving. He always looks like he smells bad; his stringy, greasy-looking hair, his awful facial hair, and his usually dirty-looking clothing make him unappealing at best. I look at him and think: EW.
Good! He's a great comedic actor but his stand up is just brilliant.
Re: OldSpringsPike – Is there a particular one you recommend so that I can YouTube it, because the ones I have seen aren't remotely funny.
Russell Brand Plans on Doing FEWER Movies*
Grammar is important.
Russel is very confused; he's very annoying & not funny at all; and he's hard to look at.
How is he famous? He always does interviews, and that's all I've ever seen him do. Interviews.
15 minutes are over. Go back to England. He was NEVER funny. New show sucks and did you see Arthur? Never needed a remake and he screwed it up even more.
* Fewer not less
i don't think he's doing fewer movies by choice. He's not a box office draw. Arthur tanked, Get Him To the Greek wasn't a hit, and Rock of Ages bombed. His humor was never really that funny, and has worn thin with U.S. audiences. Time to grab Sascha Baron Cohen, and head back across the pond.
In other words, the film offers have dried up after Arthur bombed.
That's sad… I loved all his movies! He's hilarious! I love him!
Re: grammar nazi – oh thank you thank you!
Re: KarrieBelle – He used to do a show called ponderLand that was quite funny. It's difficult with stand up, cause everyone's humour is different (Especially American and British humour). So yeah, you could try Ponderland
How can you be so mean spirited about someone you've never met? I've met him twice, fingernails and hair were clean, smelled great and was polite and sweet. So there.
Good luck with that, you're not funny…
