Chick-Fil-A's Public Approval Plummets Following Anti-Gay Declaration

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayBusiness Blitz

chick fil a ratings

Now that Chick-fil-A's CEO has made it loud and clear he doesn't support gay rights, the company's public approval rating has taken a nose-dive right into their signature sauce.

YouGov finds that four days after the anti-gay July 16 news broke, Chick-fil-A's approval rating dropped from a 65 to a 47 — three points below the average!

And just this past Wednesday, the rating slipped even more to a damaging score of 43!!

Guess it just goes to show that truly LOVING ONE ANOTHER is a winning cause. So… is hate still too tasty to give up?

Why does it matter so much? You can legislate and legistate until you are surrounded by laws saying gays are equal but you can't change the minds and hearts of those who hate. Why try? I would say 98 percent of the country just doesn't care, they live and let live. Why so much YOU MUST LOVE GAYS is being pushed down everyone's throats? Live your life. Be kind to each other. Respect each other. Stop trying to make the haters change their minds.

  2. 2

Whatever! The man did not speak hatefully, he did not say that he hates gay people, or that gay people could not work for him, or anything like that. The bible does speak clearly about homosexuality and I wish it didn't because it would be easier to just say, love everything everyone does, that is the easy way, but instead this man is taking the hard road, he is stianding up for his faith and you for one are crucifying him. I will continue to eat at Chickfila and show my support in every way possible!

  3. 3

This dip in ratings is just a flash in the pan because of all the media attention. In a week or so, this will be old news and people will flock back to Chickfila. Regardless, the CEO is a man who puts his faith over profits (otherwise, he wouldn't have expressed his religious views because he knew the backlash it would momentarily cause), so I applaud him for sticking true to his faith, his heart and his beliefs over caving in to bullying. His protected right to free speech & religious freedom is being trampled on by politicians and it's a disgusting abuse of power by the government officials who are required to adhere to the constitution but have chosen not to because of their own personal views.

  4. 4

The only hate going on here is being done by those who believe in bullying others who don't agree with them. We cannot expect others to be tolerant of our beliefs when we are not tolerant of theirs. Right or wrong an opinion was stated. Bullying others as a way to promote your own beliefs is cowardly. I do not agree with CFA's stance but until they or any other company or entity blatantly cause intentional harm/discrimination I will continue to eat there.

  5. 5

If I was Gay, Oh my God, I would not be hatefull and intolerant toward the Chifila people. I would not bully them with threats and protest. I would try to educate them about the positive factors of the gay Communitiy. Look at what these great gay role models have done for society.

    Perez Hilton
    Micheal Jackson
    Boy George
    Jerry Sandusky
    George Micheal
    Jerrery Dahlmer
    Niel Patrick Harris
    Andrew Cunanan
    Anderson cooper
    Henry Lee Lucas
    Frank Ocean
    Charles Manson
    Adolf Hitler
    Luke Magnotta
    John Wayne Gacy

  6. 6

Let me get this straight…..you ask a Christian CEO of a company that does not open on Sundays about gay issues and you are SHOCKED by the answer??? Give me a break! He never spoke hatefully about anyone at all, just stated what he believes in. I'm sorry if you are so overly sensitive that you can't let the rest of the world hold an opinion that is the least bit different from you. Sounds like all the ones protesting CFA are the ones filled with hatred, not the other way around.

  7. 7

Yeah, "loving one another" unless they believe in something different than you.
It's obvious that you wish this company to fail. But it's not just the one man who spoke against gay marriage that will lose money. Everyone in between will as well. All the people qho NEED their jobs will have hours cut and possible layoffs. I am for gay marriage, but I don't care if one man says he doesn't agree. He doesn't change my opinion and I'm not going to bully him to change his.
Even when gay marriage is 100% legal there are still going to be people against it. Always and forever. Why focus so much hate and anger on people who have nothing to do with you. This goes both ways, focus on yourself and your life.

  8. 8

It is not about having a different opinion, or believing in something different. If that is all it was there wouldn't be a problem. It is about inflicting those beliefs on others through legislation. This company supports efforts to make gay marriage illegal. That is more than just an opinion, it is discrimination. Big difference.

It is my opinion that skydiving is too dangerous. That is just my opinion. Would I support legislation banning everyone from doing it? Hell no. That is their choice and it does not affect me. See the difference?

  9. 9

Re: Meggie246524 – I agree. I am for gay marriage and I am not religious bit it annoys me when people get so upset over someones opinions. Or when they say religion is just a cover for the hate. Why does it have to be hate when you disagree with something? Many people who are religious truly believe that traditional marriage is the right way. Not just straight Christians but gay ones too. There are many homosexual Christians who put their faith over their lifestyle. That doesn't make them hateful bigots, it means they want to do what is right by their beliefs. Even when gay marriage is completely legal people will still be for traditional marriage only. Sure, some who are against gay marriage are just hateful people, but there are also those who just disagree with it because of their faith. There's a difference between stating an opinion and going out and beating gays.

Seriously. Perez you need to calm the fuck down you idiot. You are a humourless ranting moron who wants to impose your beliefs on everyone else but you'll never succeed in converting one homophobe due to the fact that you embody every horrible stereotype of gay people yourself. You need to relax and get on with life, mate, and not worry about what the owner of a chicken chain thinks.
BTW, sexism is a type of hate as well and that doesn't stop you from dropping misogynist posts all the time (ie. your handling of this Kristen Stewart situation). Really, you can try as hard as you like to be friends with Opie and Deepak (both shallow, creepy crooks btw) but your true self will always shine through.

I am so tired of having the gay agenda shoved down my throat. Perez you are nothing more than a muck raker and a bully. I am going to tell you a bit more about what is in store for those who are gay and all sinners that have never acknowledge that Jesus is Lord. The Lord said that there is coming a day when every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord, Perez that includes you and me and everyone that has ever walked this earth, sinner or saint. Get ready!!

if you're not gonna eat somewhere because of different beliefs from one person in the company, you should probably mark more than chick fil a off of your list.

  15. Adriana says – reply to this

    15

So gay people want respect, and I get it. But why dont they respect people who doesnt support them? If you want respect for your beliefs the least you can do is respect others too. Im not defending any point of view, Im just saying if you dont want people to judge you, then dont judge the people who doesnt think like you. I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion and religious views. Catholics dont approve of gay life. Respect and be respected.

  16. 16

If chicfila doesn't stop, more and more people will think it's okay to not give equal rights. and that is most certainly not okay. BTW, Chicfila asked my friend "Are you a Christian" when she asked for an application a few years ago. I have a feeling this gay controversy won't be the end of it ;) if that is the way they run business. BTW, Chicfila was sending money to Exodus International, which was sending money to Uganda to kill gays. FYI. Not so loving huh?

  17. 17

Not everyone is for gay marriage and nothing is going to change that so people need to stop shoving gay issues down other peoples throats. The president of the company is for a traditional marriage nothing is going to change his opinion. I think the gays are happy unless they make a big deal about someone not believing in their cause. Not everyone will be for their equal rights. If you don't like the place because they don't support equal rights or gay marriage then don't go there. Chick-fil-A will do fine, I was just at one for lunch and they were packed inside and out. I don't think they are worried about it.

  18. 18

    Re: Jumperchu

    Lets fix this

If the gay gestapo doesn't stop, more and more people will think it's okay to bully people. Of course, this bullying is hurting the gay cause. More people are beginning the see the gay gestapo for what they are- hateful, intolerant ,hypocritical bullies.

    Re: suckitracistscum

What is george Micheal done for society besides sucking diick in public rest stops? What a role model

  20. 20

I'm sorry but this whole Chickfila debacle has never made much sense to me. Since when are people not allowed to have their own personal beliefs? He may be against homosexuality but he isn't refusing to hire homosexuals and he isn't even spewing hate speech. He is simply expressing his views and he is entitled to them whether or not you and I agree. Why should that determine whether or not we buy a chicken sandwich for lunch? Do you have any idea how many establishments you purchase things from that are owned by people who don't like/agree with homosexuality? TONS! People are using Chick-Fil-A as a scapegoat purely because they have been the only ones to publicly express their views. Its just stupid, I'm sorry. I'm a Christian that has no hatred whatsoever towards people who are LGBT, and Im not even sure I believe it is "wrong" anyways, and I just find it ridiculous that this all has been dragged out so long. He has done nothing legally wrong. You don't have to like him. You wouldn't like most CEO's. Why do we all have to agree? Ugh, Im just so sick of hearing about this. iTS SILLY.

  21. 21

The picture of the sandwich looks so good. I'm craving a Chick-fil-a now, thanks Perez!

    22

I have nothing against gays but the fact that people are mad at him and not eating there is stupid. What ever happened to Freedom of speech?! That's whats wwrong with the world if we go against someone and their business cause we don't 100% agree with them they'll ne nothing left. Just because you don't agree with hos choice of words don't mean you have to stop eating there.

  23. 23

You can love everyone but not agree with them. This is still a free country although at times I begin to doubt it.

  24. 24

freedom of speech applies to everyone, not just gay people. and i really don't think his words came from hate. i thought this site was supposed to be a celeb gossip site…not something to be used to spur your personal agenda.

  25. 25

I am not saying I am for or against what Chik-fi-la said, but my thing is, when did it become a sin to practice freedom of speech? So people are going to stop eating chicken sandwiches, because the bullying media, who themselves practice their freedom of speech every day tell us to demonize businesses. Crazy. I thought I lived in America…land of the free…I guess I was wrong.

    27

I don't understand why people say it's anti gay to simply disagree with gay marriage. That's NOT anti gay, that's simply having a DIFFERENT opinion on a heated controversial subject. If that's how he feels then agree to disagree and STOP ostracizing the whole company for it. To me it's stupid hate someone for living differently or having a different opinion than you. I'm not opposed to gay marriage and if a same sex couple wish marry is fine by me but I'm not gonna stop eating at chick-fil-a for a stupid comment. If you want people to accept you for you then YOU also have to accept that person for who they are. It goes both ways.

Chick-fil-a lost like 2% of their business. It won't hurt them. in fact I hope morons stop going to it as a result of what one man said..that way when I go I won't have to be in a long line.

It's a public franchise, meaning anyone can rent a space out and start up a chick-fil-a. The managers/owner of store and the employees does not share his opinion. A gay friend of mine works there and couldn't give two shits. People are just uptight insensitive pansies.

  34. 34

    35

    Why does it matter??
Because this man uses his profits to help anti-gay legislations. I know I don't want to give my money to someone who will use it to push something I dont agree with. If it was just his opinion it wouldn't be a big deal, but if you support gay rights and give money to Chik Fil A, your money will go towards causes you don't want getting money. He has a right to his opinion, I have the right to spend my money on a company that doesn't use it's profits to promote anti-gay legislations.

  36. 36

He didn't just express an opinion. He gives money to groups to help discriminate against a group of our population. When you eat there you are giving your money to hate groups. I refused to eat there when I found out the religious group they belonged to. I knew what their beliefs were. This will have an impact on their earnings. They won't get out of the south.

Dear every idiot for the first about 10 comments.

This is NOT about the crap that some douche exec of some large company thinks about gay people. This is not about crucifying him or bullying him economically because he "hates gays."

Here's what this is about : Chick-fil-a's CEO used money that was brought in by chick-fil-a to fund groups that use that money to POLITICALLY fight queer equity as well as abortion rights, families not headed by the biological parents, and pornography.

Therefore, every time you go to chick-fil-a, you are supporting groups that work against freedom, against equality, against equity, against feminism, and against people.

    That's what this is about.

What kind of country do we live in that when someone has an opinion that others may disagree with prople try to shut their business down! What happened to freedom of specch..we should all be scared!

  43. 43

Re: Ryan Kelly – That's incorrect. What this is about is that CFA's constitutional rights are being violated because they've been denied permits to open more restaurants in 2 cities by politicians because of CFA's views on the homosexual lifestyle. That's illegal and that's what this is about. As for donations, everyone is free to donate their money wherever they like. If you don't agree with CFA's views, fine, don't spend your money there. But for CFA to be denied operating licenses for their business because a politician personally disagrees with their stance on a homosexual lifestyle is trampling on their rights and the constitution. These mayors should be sued and removed from office. That's what this is about.

  44. 44

Keep trying to spin this, pansy, like Chick-fil-A is on the losing end of this deal. If you have to post these lies to feel better about your gay self, go for it. But the chain has seen a surge in support, and though I've never eaten there, I will now, just because the CFA boss has the stones to stand up to you gay haters and gay bullies. Because YOU are the hating bully here, Perez, and every time you post about this, I laugh and laugh and laugh because you're in a panic that a big company told you gays to fuck off and they're getting support. You like shoving; you hate it when your victims shove back. Suck it, sissy.

Chick Fil A is a PRIVATE company. They can do what THEY want…not what the gay community wants. They are NOT taking your rights, they are stating their beliefs. CFILA never came out and said, "We won't serve Gays"..they did what the first amendment gave us the right to do..they used the privilege of FREE SPEECH. If you don't like what they believe, don't eat there. I think Tom Cruise is an idiot because of the wacky comments he made years ago regarding post partum depression, so I don't see his movies. It was a personal choice. So stop whining and fluffing up a story that isn't as horrible as people are making it out to be. It's Chicken for goodness sake…lord have mercy. GET OVER IT!

It's a free country and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but not at the expense of the investors. The CEO has a job to make money for the corporation and she screwed up. Regardless of how she feels, she should have just kept her mouth shut and supported her cause in private. Now all her big mouth has done is hurt her, her investors and her franchise owners profits. She needs to go so people will come back and buy their food. It's all about money, not her personal causes.

Love their sandwiches, they have nothing to fear from the McDonald's Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich - love to get extra mayo for mine ( yes I know it is not good for me but it tastes SO GOOD and once in awhile you need to indulge yourself). As a straight female I think it is OK for their CEO to have their own personal opinion but as long as they are fair in their hiring practices and serving others I am OK with that.

  61. 61

This is NOT about freedom of speech but it IS about spreading hate against others who are different! Did you read what Jumperchu wrote about spreading this gospel of Chick-Fil-A hatred and ignorance to support a country for actually KILLING people for being homosexual?! All Dan Cathy was expressing were his own personal beliefs that same sex couples should not wed. I am a lesbian and I believe that I should be allowed to married my partner. I also believe that we are American and have the 1st ammendment right to freedom of speech and should be allowed to freely express our own opinion. How can we in the GLBT community expect others to respect our lifestyle if we do not respect theirs? Chick-Fil-A is a wonderful company and I will continue to be a loyal customer.

Nope, not one bit of that has happened. They are entitled to their beliefs, just like you are entitled to yours. They are a privately owned company, if they want to support pro-life, heterosexual only marriage, it is their right. No one..NOT ONE PERSON from Chick Fil-A has bashed any homosexual. They stated what they believe, you don't have to like it but stupid politicians shouldn't try and get them from opening a store. That is interfering with free speech and that is wrong. Chick Fil A hasn't affected one thing with the homosexual community, they didn't start a law that says you can't get married…they didn't say "We won't serve same sex couples"..they stated what they believe. DOESN'T THAT DEFEAT THE PURPOSE OF EVERYTHING? IF CONSERVATIVES ARE "WRONG" FOR NOT SUPPORTING GAY RIGHTS…THAT MEANS YOU AREN'T SUPPORTING THE BELIEFS OF A CERTAIN SOCIAL GROUP AS WELL…ITS VERY HYPOCRITICAL.

Re: Momof2rs – I agree! He just spoke from his heart. saying that this must be displeasing to GOD that humans are not heeding his word.
God gave us free will, if you believe in your heart that the word of the LORD is not for you then OK,cause GOD gave you free will. DO what you want and at the second coming you will have your time with the LORD and He and HE alone will judge you. I wish for mankind PEACE,LOVE, and
    forgiveness.

That is as LITERAL of anti gay as you can get. Trying to convert and scare the gay out of people through demented fake clinics and fake doctors.

Re: Shayla – Yeah, I'd like to see if you'd keep quiet if you weren't allowed to get married. People disapproving of you getting married vs not being allowed to get married are two VERY different things. "Why try?" You have to be kidding. If everyone had your mentality, I suppose America would still have slaves and women wouldn't be able to vote. Once everyone is legally treated the same, the public's mentality changes, as it has towards african americans and women, clearly for the better!

BTW, your "respect each other" demand should be a TWO WAY street. What you are really asking is for gays to respect the fact that they are not respected. And thank you for your random statistic of how you feel…if 98% of the country didn't even care, then North Carolina would not have passed their first amendment to specifically smite gays.

Re: Michele – Yes, they are stating their beliefs, while they send money to Uganda to make sure gays and anyone who provides housing to a gay person dies. Their beliefs and intentions are very clear sweety.

  84. 84

THAT IS A LIE, there never was a anti-gay declaration. Mr. Church only said what he believed in. Believing in one thing doesn't make you against the other. If gays want to be treated equally and be allowed to have their beliefs, then they need to allow others the same rights. So who are the REAL hater?

  85. 85

This is ridiculous! He never hated on gay people. The owners of OPEC kill homosexuals….are all gay people going to stop driving now as well? Pro-America here. Freedom of speech and religion is practiced in this country. The bullies trying to bully this company need to stop HATING!!!

  86. 86

it's just like… what the hell was the asshole thinking? keep those opinions to yourself DUDE. you have no idea how many gay men/women work for your company and you are speaking on alienating them? on telling them that they are "inviting god's judgement" apparently inviting judgement from corporate fast food chains as well. Let's say Wendy's was owned by super-liberals…. i don't want to hear their politics either. could give a shit WHAT this man's stance was… it's uncalled for and inappropriate.

Sorry I support Freedom of speech. I think it's crazy that people go crazy over someone that is against YOUR OPINION. He not hating against homosexuality, he is simply against it. Being against it is completely different then hating it. I don't go crazy when people say that they are don't like certain things that I like? It would be ridiculous. People have different views on things, accept it. Accept that fact that NOT EVERYONE will have the same views on homosexuality or anything else for that matters. He is not hating it, he is just against it. Get it right. Loving one another I totally agree on that. But do we have to have the same views to love other people? NO! Come on, lets be mature and just accept the fact that people have different views.

its no longer acceptable to hide behind the im a good christian clause to hate on gay people…

NO HE SHOULD OF KEPT HIS FUCKING MOUTH SHUT NOONE WANTS TO HEAR HIS OPINION HES RUNNING A FOOD BUSINESS NOT FUCKING POLITICS SO HE SHOULD STFU…

  90. 90

Such hateful comments on this board. People should leave gay people alone and focus on doing something more constructive with their time - perhaps, feeding the poor, getting a college degree, or helping your elderly neighbor carry groceries?

The time you spend "hating" is just hurting your quality of life. It's not hurting anyone, but yourself.

  91. 91

Re: perez posse member 777 – Christ you're a dumbass, equating hate with not supporting gay marriage. You've been sucked in by the gay nazis who cry that disagreeing with any of their views is automatically hatred. Guess no one is entitled to have an opinion or belief anymore without having some group or prick like you play the hate card. Show me proof where the owner says he hated gays. If you cant then fuck off.

  92. 92

Re: rosebud99 – It isn't discrimination. If you don't like what a company represents than don't go there. Nearest Chick-Fil-A restaurant is over 400 miles from me. I would gladly drive there just to buy a soda to support them. Hopefully there won't be any gays there! A business has every right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. I wish more companies would stand up for what is right!

  93. 93

Re: Momof2rs – "The bible does speak clearly about homosexuality" ???? Seriously??? So, by that rationale, if a person publicly came out to the press saying that they stoned their child for speaking back or disobeying them as a parent, it would be ok???? The bible has some very barbaric and primal cave man not ok stuff in it, especially the Old Testament which is where the homosexual stuff is brought up, I believe. All of that aside, as a CEO of a very well known business, the man has an obligation not to encourage any sort of hatred, even if that's only implied. A business is supposed to be a business, not a church. He can have his own beliefs, but if his business is open to the public for anyone to purchase, then he'd better be ready for the public to have their own opinions and beliefs as well. Just sayin…

  94. 94

EVERYONE should be entitled to their opinion. Therefore, when a CEO of a very popular fast food chain has an opinion, people should not be surprised by the response it will evoke from EVERYONE, especially from the LGBT community which I am so proud to be a part of. I also happen to believe in God, so I don't appreciate the insinuations that being gay means not believing in the word of God or the basic principles of Christianity. It is possible for the two to coexist. If the shoe were on the other foot, straight people would flip out. I've had gay friends who worked for Chick Fil A mention how uncomfortable they felt working for that company. If it were the other way around and a straight person was made to feel wrong for wanting to get married, that definitely wouldn't go over too well with the straight public, so why should the LGBT community be criticized for responding to this blatant remark of small mindedness the way we have?

Re: San Fran Graham – I don't have a problem with the LGBT community responding to what they feel is a slight against them. After all, I'm for freedom of speech. However, I am against people taking words and twisting them to fit their agenda like Perez does. I sincerely wish this were a perfect world and that everyone who wanted to marry could. Put simply, love is love. I've also had gay friends work at Chick-fil-a and they never had any problems with feeling uncomfortable. I think it boils down to the individual chain. I also share your beliefs concerning Christianity and being gay. The two do coexist because my God is a loving God and loves us all. However, everyone has an opinion and everyone has the right to that opinion - regardless if said opinion is PC or not. Cathy stated his personal opinion, not the opinion of Chick-fil-a the company. That's like being angry at a bookstore because one cashier says he doesn't like a popular genre. I know I'm over simplifying it, but you understand what I'm trying to say. I really enjoyed reading your post, San Fran Graham. It's nice to have a mature discussion with someone regarding this.

It seems we need to start a straight support group. Just because I don't think it is right for two of the same sex to marry does not mean I hate people. Get for real. It seems gay and lesbian community needs to have some lessons on Tolorance themselves. Everyone gay or straight is entitled to their own opinion.

I am not against gays, but I am against how they make everything an issue. I don't believe in gay marriage. I'm so sick of the gay agenda being shoved down my throat, no pun intended. Lol Just because they are such bullies I will support Chick fil a and encourage others to do the same. Not everyone has to agree with gays. They are the bullies! I honestly don't want to live in a world where gays rule. I want everyone to have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. The more and more I hear about protesting the more I just want a spicy chicken sandwich with waffle fries! Mmm Bet that tastes better than dick. Remember to support Chick fil a on Wednesday August 1st! Show your support for courage and freedom!
