Chick-Fil-A's Public Approval Plummets Following Anti-Gay Declaration

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooGay Gay GayBusiness BlitzLGBT

chick fil a ratings

Now that Chick-fil-A's CEO has made it loud and clear he doesn't support gay rights, the company's public approval rating has taken a nose-dive right into their signature sauce.

YouGov finds that four days after the anti-gay July 16 news broke, Chick-fil-A's approval rating dropped from a 65 to a 47 — three points below the average!

And just this past Wednesday, the rating slipped even more to a damaging score of 43!!

Guess it just goes to show that truly LOVING ONE ANOTHER is a winning cause. So… is hate still too tasty to give up?

Re: San Fran Graham – The bible does speak about homosexuality in the old testement as well as many other things that we would think are off the wall today I will agree with that totally. In the New Testement Jesus came not to abolish the law but to fulfill the law and we are able to be forgiven with out the sacrificial blood of animals or stoning or any of those things because He became the sacrifice. In the New Testement in Romans the bible again speaks of Homosexuality but it also speaks about adultery and many other sins that the church is very guilty about not speaking out about. What I am saying is that the bible is hard, but it is complete and as a christian I choose to try my best to live by it. I do not believe in the hate speaches spoken by many churches condemning homosexuality from the pulpit, and making people feel guilty, I believe that God is clear on it and it is up to the individual to make their choice and to be accountable for that choice in the end. I do not think the CEO was condemning he was quoting the bible and his personal beliefs, everyone has to work out their own beliefs for themselves.

Not sure what is the big deal, but this has all the earmarks of backfire. Yes , not news that a chain that closes on Sunday so it's employees can spend time with family rather than chase the almighty dollar might also have an owner that believes marriage isnbetwee

I'm gonna help their approval rating tomorrow and eat there….

its called freedom of speech…they have the right to not agree with gay rights … who are we to take that away from someone who doesnt agree with your rights….if ppl rent allow to say they dont like this or that …where is the freedom of speech ???

  6. Anthony says – reply to this

Re: Momof2rs – Yes but they have no right to shove their religious beliefs down my throat because I'm gay. The Bible speaks out in favor of slavery and telling women to not speak before a man, but I don't hear you talking about that. I wonder why…hmm.

  7. 107

Re: Anthony – That's a pretty inaccurate & sweeping overview of the Bible. Where the Bible is written in black denotes authors who were describing their lives/environment/way of life at that period in time (slavery, etc). Where the Bible is written in red denotes the words of Christ. Two very different things. Christ never said anything about slavery or about beating women, etc. Romans states, "God gave them up to degrading passions. Their women exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural, and in the same way also the men, giving up natural intercourse with women, were consumed with passion for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men." (Romans 1:26-27)" but Paul states "Therefore you have no excuse, whoever you are, when you judge others; for in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things." (Romans 2:1)". So essentially, don't have sex with the same gender (or outside of marrige) but don't judge those who do - let God handle it.

  8. Anthony says – reply to this

Re: Meggie246524 – So gay love is shameless? I know many happy gay couples that are much better off than heterosexuals. That's why I can't believe in the bible, it just has so many things that are wrong about it.

  9. 109

Re: Anthony – That's your choice whether or not to follow Christ's teachings. And whether or not you believe in God is your choice too. I believe God gave us free will and you're living proof of that because he's allowing you to do what you want and he loves you and me regardless of our sins. Parents love their kids even though they break the rules but that doesn't mean they don't get punished for it. Same thing here. I believe that we'll all be held accountable for our sins unless we seek forgiveness; but God still loves us no matter what. Life a happy life and do what you think is best. That's all any of us can do.

  10. Anthony says – reply to this

Re: Meggie246524 – I don't believe God will send me to hell for being gay. I didn't ask for this, this is just how I am. It isn't my fault.

  11. 111

Re: Anthony – I agree with you. None of us can help who we are - we can only control what we do. Straight people can choose to have affairs with married people and that's a sin. It's not a sin to be straight, but it's a sin to commit adultery. It's the actions that we choose to do that are sinful or not. The Bible never says anywhere that it's a sin to be gay - it simply says that it's a sin to have sex with someone of the same gender. So the Bible would seem to imply that homosexuals are meant to live celibate lives. Just as it implies that any unmarried person is to refrain from sex. Why? I don't know - we don't have all the answers. Is that a tough life? Of course. But God must've had a special reason for putting these restrictions on us that I believe will be revealed in time. Again, do what you think is right for you and live your life as you see fit. You were given free will so it's your decision to choose what to do & how to live your life.

  12. Mickey says – reply to this

I'm not entirely sure how someone having a differing viewpoint, but not being oppressive about their viewpoint, is considered "hate." There's been a very disturbing trend within certain communities that states that "those that disagree are filled with hate." That could not be further from the truth in most circumstances. I agree with this gentleman personally. However, my mother is also in a lesbian relationship. Do I hate her? Absolutely not. She's my mom. Do I think she should be able to be "married" in the traditional sense? No. Again, personal choice and opinion. She knows that I don't in any way "hate" her, I just disagree. There's nothing wrong with healthy, civil discourse between those who disagree. It's when those that want respect and tolerance refuse to give it to others that there becomes a problem.

  13. 113

Re: Shayla – For me, I don't care if someone loves or hates gay people (I would prefer loves, simply because I don't see the point of hating, but I digress). What I DO care about is that a representative from a company, the CEO even, took anti-tolerance and very public stand. I think it's unprofessional and if you make a political stand against something, you should expect that people, who are politically involved, or not, just advocate tolerance -will in return, take a stand as well. It all comes down to that. I wouldn't want to put food on the table of someone who hates me, my friends, my family or anyone else for that matter, therefor, I won't be buying this man's products. Power of the people!

  14. Ashtyn says – reply to this

I don't support gay rights at all so I do support chickflias standing up against gays as a Christian company and I am also and don't think God made Adam and Steve he made Adam and eve! This country seriously needs to get there hearts back to God that's why all these diseases are here and cancer not cured yet! Look at all the sin is going on in this country ! You need salvation that Jesus died on the cross for ours sins! I truly believe a gay can be saved but they won't be gay anymore !

  15. Anthony says – reply to this

Re: Ashtyn – So fucking ignorant. Shame on you!

  16. 116

So sick of this. You would think this is the second coming of the fair act rights that the african american people suffered. Get a clue, black people didn't have a choice, being gay IS a choice. I guess today in society it's either the gay way or the highway. You talk about bullying in schools and such, well guess what, you're bullying people to accept your point of view. STFU and move on.

  17. 117

Re: Anthony – Then you don't have the right to shove your beliefs that same sex marriage should be legal. I could care less either way but this shit has become absurd. The LGBT community has become just as bad as the religious sect and frankly I'm sick and tired of it. It's a piece of paper, have your civial unions, let the religious freaks have the marriage bullshit and let's have everyone move one. Win Win!.

  18. Hermes says – reply to this

The gay community doesn't want to feel any hatred towards them..but seem to quick to throw backslash to a personal comment a person mention. Its a personal opinion and belief, The gay community cant change everyone minds to accept them as gays. The gay community keep on fighting with politics for your rights, and leave persons to say their personal opinions and comments!!! Like the CEO. I applaud him.

  19. Emmievvcv says – reply to this

I am not anti-gay, but I support chick fil a. You cannot expect a company to support something they don't beleive in.
This is America, everyone has the freedom to beleive in what they want. Not everyone is the same. Stop being pissy about a chicken company's belief. This has nothing to do with the rights of gays, this is totally pointless. The only hate occurring is from those that bash chickfila. Grow up, and move on.

  20. 120

he was only speaking the truth!!! whether you like it or not!!!

  21. Kim says – reply to this

They have a right to there opinion just like you have a right to your opinion. Now if you actually had the power to make them go out of business, think of all the lives you would be destroying because they would be out of a job in an economy that is already bad enough. You going to pay all those employees bills. I think not.

  22. 122

Disagreeing with your views isn't hate. I disagree with the gay lifestyle, but I don't hate the people who live them.

Re: Meggie246524 – I told agree with you Maggie. What I donn't understand is this man is just take a stand for his belief. If you donn't like what he has to say, just donn't eat there and stop attacking him for his personal belief.

  26. 126

Ok why does it matter? It's a food place! I do not pick where I eat based on how the CEOs feel about anything except food quality. Did anyone ask a hot dog vender where he stands on abortion rights? No! They ask, how much are your hot dogs! ( I would stongly advise against eating hot dogs)

  27. 127

Sorry but I love their sandwiches and also the chicken tenders, so not going to stop eating there, and have no strong opinion one way or the other on gay marriage.

  28. Anthony says – reply to this

Re: wipedout – I have a choice to be in a relationship yes, but don't you ever fucking say that I "chose" to be attracted to guys. Fucking bullshit.

  29. Ellimac says – reply to this

This is ridiculous. So this Chrisitan CEO from Georgia believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman. So what?! Has he said he is going to stop serving the gays at his restaurants? Not hire gays? No. He was just voicing out his belief. Shrug it off and move on. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I am all for gay marriage and equality but whatever. I don't try to shove it down someone's throat and none should the gays or supporters. Shrug it off. Laugh at his "ignorance" and move on.

  30. 130

Re: wipedout – that was well said ….

  31. renie says – reply to this

once again the liberal left is lying like a stinking cheap rug. it is the other way around chick a fil is boomng andthe gay protest went downin flames just like all gays are going to do buring for enternaty in hell

  32. 132

Re: Momof2rs – That was a very diplomatic response which actually said nothing. Lol. That's cute. So, words from a book written by men which was later edited by a king who didn't like it all justifies a man's beliefs!?! That's terrifying. I would hope that people could derive their own moral code and have original thoughts in this day and age. But I might be setting my expectations a little high. I'll pray for you. :-)

  33. 133

Re: WillowWynde – I do believe that ALL things/opinions should be up for discussion. All people will never agree about everything. Respect is what's important. Respect that someone else may want to live their life differently from the way you thing life should be lived. Mudslinging and ignorant remarks are in several of the postings I've skimmed through, and that is tragic. Thank you for being civil WillowWynde.

  34. 134

Re: Meggie246524 – I was told, in church, growing up in the Southern Baptist Bible Belt (I've had a lot of therapy since then to get over much of it) that thinking about something is just as bad as acting on it. That would really mess up your theory explained in your last posting here, wouldn't it? So, it's ok to be gay as long as I don't act gay or have a gay relationship??? Seriously??? That's your answer? Wow. People like you really, really scare me. It's 2012. People attracted to the same sex should not still be having to explain and justify this. To think it's wrong or a sin is just barbaric and ignorant.

  35. 135

Re: San Fran Graham – I grew up in the Anglican church and that's not what we were taught. We were taught that it's our actions, not our feelings, that we're held accountable for. I stood up at my best friend's wedding when he & his partner had a civil union and he knows I couldn't have done that had he wanted me to stand with him in a church for a religious service as I don't believe a religious union between same-sex couples is appropriate. He's tolerant & accepting of my views and I'm tolerant and accepting of his. It's a shame you're quick to anger when someone disagrees with you instead of showing patience and trying to understand someone else's views. That's a frightening mindset.

  36. Iamkindagay says – reply to this

Like Chick-Fil-A CEO had a right to speak his views, Homosexuals (including Perez) have the right to speak their views. BOTH have the freedom of speech, so as the Gays didn't agree or like what the CEO said, they protest and write OPINION articles. The people here who disagree should follow suit, and write their own articles and not read articles you don't agree with.

Perez is gay…I don't think that a secret, so if you are against the gay lifestyle, why are you coming to his site, because with every click, he gets sponsor money. And I am sure he is using that money to support his lifestyle.

The gay marriage issue has NOTHING to do with religion, it is all about Human Rights and the Government recognizing the marriage of same sex couples. Marriage has become a legal word, that is why it is so important.

The Church is a tax exempt organization, which means, to stay tax exempt, they are to stay out of political issues. I think since the country is having economic troubles and the Church can't seem to stay out of the political arena, they should pay taxes.

  37. PEREZ IS AN IDIOT says – reply to this

Oh look at you Perez…on another tirade.
You sure make it pretty obvious when you hate someone or something. It's so nice that you think you have people fooled in regards to your hideous personality by pretending to be all "reformed" in your ways.

YOU are the hater here. Not Chick-Fil-A.
You respond to people that don't have your view with bullying. Which is hilarious since you wrote some nonsense children's book on the subject.

I hope NOBODY in the gay community ever takes a page out of your book when fighting for equal rights.

  38. Taylor says – reply to this

I just think it is ridiculous for everyone to be so surprised and outraged by what the CEO of Chic-Fil-a said. He is an outright Christian and he even closes his restaurant on Sundays. So of course he is not going to be in favor of gay rights.

  39. Jessica says – reply to this

Just because you dont agree with gay marriage doesnt make you hate gays..

  40. kagecom says – reply to this

typical liberal crap! If you complain about the gays protesting or condemning anything, you are guilty of trampling on their 1st amendment rights to say whatever they want. If you say something that they disagree with, they WILL trample on your 1st amendment rights. Just a bunch of 2-fgaced jerks that want to shove their agenda down our throats. I'll bet if I went and had a black and white bumper sticker made declaring that I am straight, they would have a hissy fit saying that I was being politically incorrect.

  41. AmyinHI says – reply to this

Ive been overseas for the past 3 years and will be moving home winter 2012, and the first thing I'm getting when I land is a Chickfila sandwich. This is America where everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. Take the higher road and forgive them for holding to their beliefs while you hold to yours! My respect for Chickfila has increased because they're willing to stand for what they believe in, even if that does clash with my own opinions and ideals. Most businesses in America are too worried about their bottom line to have a firm opinion on anything. Kudos Chickfila for taking a stand for what you believe.

  42. 142

Actions speak louder than words… the fact that this company donates money to such companies say more than his opinion.

I am a Christian and I have lots of Christian friends who wont eat at chik-fil-a because they dont like the food….what a novel idea, eat or don't eat somewhere because of the food. For all you know the person running the specific Starbucks you drink your coffee at could be a gay hating, abortion supporting, communist muslim who beats and rapes children. Chik-fil-a is a franchised buisness whith private owners who pay a franchise fee. So, as long as the chicked I am eating is not an annoying bigot Ill eat eat!

My confusion is that he spent 5 million supporting anti gay bullshit when if he is so christian why not take that money and help the poor or sick or less fortunate. To me that seems the more christian thing to do. Why push your bullshit beliefs on someone else. By the way im a straight person and christian.Re: Gloria

Re: Meggie246524 – I will also continue to eat at Chik-Fila. The man did not do anything wrong, he was just telling what he believes is right. Everyone else in this nation voice their opinion on what they believe no matter what it is and they are allowed to do so and I think we Christians should be able to do so also. I know what the bible says and I stand 100% for Gods word. It is the same today as it was over 2000 years ago. This nation is going to pot just like the days in the bible in Sodom and Gomorrah when God destroyed that city because of all their wicked ways. I Praise God for people who will stand for what is right. Yes we are suppose to love everyone but it still does not mean we are suppose to agree with them if they are living in sin. We can still love and pray for people but not agree with their lifestyle. God have mercy on this nation.
