One Direction And Ed Sheeran To Play In The Olympics

One Direction has qualified to represent Britain at the Olympics!

The boy band will perform in the games' synchronized singing competition MASSIVE closing ceremony!

So far, nothing has been officially confirmed. Howevs Ed Sheeran, who is rumored to be joining the band on the international stage, certainly didn't deny the rumors. Ed told reporters:

"If I was to play the closing ceremony, I might be playing with quite a big rock band and I might be playing one of their most famous hits. Might be. And if I was doing that, it would feel quite fun, I think, and it would be quite a moment for me. But that's if I was doing it."

So…. that's a "YES!"

And it's absolutely fitting! There is no one (other than Adele) who could better represent British music of the moment.

With The Who, Queen and even the Spice Girls already set to perform — the closing ceremony is shaping up to be BIGGER than the main event!

Hopefully Niall Horan recovers from his illness before Aug 12! We'd hate for him to miss the band's biggest gig yet!

I love me some One Diection, but they're hardly considered a rock band. I doubt that they're who Ed's talking about, Perez.

Perez isn't saying that the rockband is One Direction idiots.. He's saying that Ed will perform with a rockband and One Direction will perform as well.. This is actually old news.. British media have been buzzing for weeks about these two performing.. I think it's great for them.. They're young, talented upcoming acts.. It will fit in with the theme of the Olympics (to give young, new athletes a chance). I”m sure they won't let us down! If the closing ceremony is going to be anything like the opening ceremony then it will all be epic! Congrats Ed and One Direction! It's a massive honour!

Perez dear, if you're in the US you won't get to see Ed Sheeran or One Direction in the closing ceremony. NBC will cut and chop to pieces the show and will most likely show you only a small selection of the performances, just as they didn't show you in the US all the performances in the opening ceremony (for example cut out the first song the Arctic Monkeys sang and few other performances). Even in the Diamond Jubilee they didn't show Ed Sheeran performance on the US broadcast, as they cut out 70% of the performances.

They are young, fresh, cute, and very talented. I'm not sure of the age of the average reader on this site but I was around for the Nsync Backstreet boys era. They are in demand so that's why they are playing. Simple. It doesn't matter if you thinkI they suck, these teenaged girls love them!

first of all, since when do boy bands play rock and the kid second from the right is going to be, or may already be a huge fucked up drug addict who will become a member of the 27 club.

while i don't particularly think ed is talking about one direction, he is a very close friend of the them and also has written songs for them in the past. so i'm sure he would want to sing with them. so don't make dumb assumptions
