One by one, all of the rumored contenders for the coveted role of Anastasia Steele in the upcoming film adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey are speaking up and DENYING their involvement!
Yesterday Emma Watson shot down reports, and now, so is Elizabeth Olsen!
But that doesn't mean the young actress has any ill feelings toward the kinky Twilight fanfiction! In fact, she thinks it's doing QUITE the service for women and gender roles in today's society!
When asked about potentially playing the part, she replied:
"No, no, no! But it's had a huge impact on society. Apparently rope sales have skyrocketed because women who've read the book are really getting into bondage, which is kind of great. It's such a taboo for women to actually discuss sexuality without the help of Cosmopolitan. All of a sudden, this book has become a sensation because the women reading it haven't had access to this kind of thing before. I was talking to a guy who was making a joke about it, saying, 'Clearly, these women just need to watch porn'. In a way, he's right."
Hey - she makes a very inneresting point!
There's not too much mainstream content out there that has allowed women to explore their sexuality and needs without judgment in such a IN YOUR FACE fashion, so we're glad that even though Elizabeth is CLEARLY not innerested in checking out the Red Room of Pain, she approves of those who are!
Now are there any rumored actresses who actually WANT to play this role? Ha!
