Gunman Kills 6 And Injures 3 In Wisconsin Sikh Temple

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooR.I.P.Sacha Baron Cohen

Ugh! Not another incident like this!

We are deeply saddened to hear that a gunman in Oak Creek, Wisconsin open fired in a Sikh temple on Sunday. Before being shot by police officers arriving on the scene, the unidentified 40-year-old white male killed six people and injured three with no apparent motive.

Both authorities and the victims are stunned by the "domestic terrorist-type incident." A member of the congregation told sources:

"Nobody's angry here. We're just confused. Was this a random act? Was this directed at us because of the way we look?"

Sadly, that may be the case. Sikh men have been subject to hate crimes since 9/11 because they are confused for Muslims or Hindus.

In fact, ever since a Sikh man was killed in Arizona in apparent retaliation for the attacks on the World Trade Center, chairman of the Sikh Council on Religion and Education said:

"There's always an apprehension and a sense of fear that this kind of incident will take place anywhere, anytime."

Such a shame that their fears were realized!

While we can't imagine the pain and heartache that the congregation is feeling right now, we never imagined an incident like this would happen so soon after the massacre in Aurora, Colorado. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims and their families!

As a Sikh I was wondering why Sacha Baron Cohen was filed under this category :S . .

The world has lost its mind. Thank god that piece of white trash responsable for that was killed on the spot.

This does not happen in other countries that have gun control at the rate it does here. Not even in the ball park. I love the 2nd amendment. It is making me think.

Re: Comments off C off – Because the criminals in those countries follow the law and are unable to get guns?

Re: dreamssweetly – Because gun are not as ready available. But you tell me. I am opening to listening. Why in countries w/ gun control (meaning they have guns just you have to do a lot to access them) they don't even have a 1/8 of gun deaths as we do. Also they have less murders period. One reason it shooting is easier and less impersonal than stabbing or strangling. While burglaries our comparable to our rates, burglary deaths are not even close. These are not liberal statistics I am not a liberal. I was raised around guns. Guns not for any malicious purposes simply a prideful hobby. Hunting, protection and because it is a right. So you tell me.

Re: dreamssweetly – The police do not even carry guns in many of these countries, like in England. Still I don't see mass shootings or deaths.

Way to be a day late. The news didn't even cover this that much though. I get that it's not as many people as the Aurora victims, but why isn't this getting as much coverage?

"Ugh! Not another incident like this!" Really, Perez? REALLY??? The only thing the two incidents have in common are that a gun was used and people died, that's where the similarities end.

Re: Comments off C off – Those countries aren't usually as populated as the US, plus far more bombings & riots happen in them than occur here. Violence and humans go hand in hand, there is a LONG history of it. Placing the blame on gun control is ignorant.

Re: Comments off C off – Also, biggest thing to keep in mind is, maybe they do have shit like this happening, except the media doesn't make a giant deal about it? I highly doubt you follow local news in every damn city in every country..Just because you're not seeing it on the mainstream American media, doesn't mean it isn't happening. In china a guy killed 6 people with a knife. I never heard anything about that until I was on some random news site no one visits..

Re: ickynicky – If you read my post I wasn't blaming anyone! But it would be hard to take someones opinion that doesn't read s/thing and understand it.

    Re: ickynicky
No one is blaming violence on guns but giving people, who you say are violent by nature, weapons really isn't going to help the problem

Re: NookiesWA – I wouldn't believe China would share anything w/ the rest of the world. I do know China has a suicide problem they refuse to report to the mainstream media an they keep giving their baby girls to the Us( ; I do know that Europe and Scandinavian countries have a partnership (not propaganda) w/ us to keep track of crime ( not criminals). It not be in the papers but the numbers are there. I like guns and freedom. I was just thinking

Re: Comments off C off – For some reason my other comments aren't showing up and its annoying me..In my comment I stated, you also have to take into account the many of factors. Population, population per square mile..All in which are higher than a lot of other countries. As well as the crap ton of guns we have and the percentage of the population thats armed. You're basically asking the wrong question. We have always had loads of guns, but shooting sprees just started occurring. Instead of questioning gun control you should be thinking and asking "So, what has changed. What is causing this?" It definitely isn't gun control, as said..We have always had guns. Of course when you see it on the news you think it happens more frequently. 311 million people, 200 million guns, half the population owns a gun. Things like this is literally a statistical anomaly. A rare occurance.

Re: Comments off C off – and the most obvious ones are..Maybe Americans are just dumber, more aggressive and more violent? I mean we always make fun of how fruity European men are..so LOL go figure.

wtf perez are you implying that it would be OK to shoot Hindus? How stupid are you? they were not responsible or played any part of 9/11

    Hey Perez,
Been a big fan and following your page since the very beginning. I must admit I'm disappointed with your coverage of the Sikh Temple Shooting. The Media's coverage was pathetic (with the exception of CNN)
I figured you would give it due justice.
Is it that it's a relatively unknown demographics? Too soon after Colorado?
Whatever the reason.. I expected you to do a better job because you are usually way on top of things.

I have been following perezhilton.com for many years now and always found that you covered stories so well, untill this one. I am disappointed to the lack of coverage this story has received. I had to search to find this story but could not escape from the mass coverage of the r-patz and k-stew cheating scandal? maybe more than one update for the many lives lost in a peaceful place of worship targeted by terrorism would have been good….
