James Holmes' Lawyers Claim Mental Illness

| Filed under: Legal MattersSad SadHealth

Not surprisingly, the lawyers representing Dark Knight Rises gunman James Holmes announced in court Thursday that they believe James to be mentally ill, and need more time to assess his condition before entering a plea.

Most likely, Holmes' representatives WILL plea insanity.

Holmes is being charged with 24 counts of murder and 116 counts of attempted murder, after 'allegedly' opening fire on movie patrons at an Aurora, CO movie theater killing 12 and wounding dozens.

He's not insane….. an insane person couldnt set up a wiring system like he did. to let him plea insanity is to bypass everything that he did, he should pay for it.

when some one does a really violent crime such as this - i dont think courts should allow for a mentally ill plea- of course he's mental he killed and injured people. it isnt even a case of did he do it- we caught him. as the families if they want him dead and if they all agree then bye holmes you are the wad youre mom should have swallowed!

Re: rachel – Absolutely. Also think about the time he spent building an arsenal, developing his plan. People is his life will be interviewed and deny that he is as mentalliy ill as he might be acting. Then he'll be exposed, found guilty and forced to pay for his crime.

It's not a surprise that they're using the insanity defense…it's the only one they have. There's no denying that he did it. He only has two options; plead guilty or not guilty by reason of insanity.

I don't think it's impossible for him to have a mental illness. Many bright individuals who are suffering from schizophrenia plan elaborate plans and situations based on their paranoia. I don't condone what he did one bit, but if he is ill, that's pretty sad that no one could do anything about it. If he isn't, even still it sucks we live in a society where people like this do such horrific things.

Just ask him to hold a cable with 100,000 volts of electricity running thru it or to jump into a fiery furnace. If he declines to both then he's sane!!

Mental Illness my ass, he planted bombs at his home, he planned out his murder spree methodically, he is just an evil person who needs to pay!

You dont understand him.Not many people do. They use these as experiments mostly to drive certain people insane.I have been through this for many years. Its affective and the tactics they use are to actually drive a person insane so they end up in prison or mental facility

These methods were designed to simply destroy a persons life.In the beginning,I dont think James was a target,I think his reaction was from from a goal he was working on,or not even relizing until to late

While everyone is in agreement about Holmes, what you said was pretty sick yourself.
