Watch Madonna Stand Up For Jailed Punk Band At Moscow Concert

This Material Girl is fearless!

Madonna is not happy that the three women comprising the Russian punk band Pussy Riot have been locked up for speaking out against Vladimir Putin.

We heard she had spoken up on their behalf while in Moscow earlier this week, but now we get to SEE it (above)!

The Queen of Pop stopped her concert in the country's capital on Tuesday night to applaud the "courageous" women who "have paid the price for this act" and encouraged her audience to pray for their freedom.

We're glad to see that Madge isn't afraid to stand up for what she feels is right, but we sincerely hope she doesn't end up paying the price for this act either. As we reported yesterday, someone has made terror threats against her show in St. Petersburg tonight.

Despite the U.S. Embassy's warnings, she feels the show must go on, so we're praying that it goes on without any kind of complications!

Did you mean the fairground stripper is pantless?

  7. 7

Sorry to say but there is just no point to Madonna anymore. Her endorsement means nothing especially as she doesn't mean it her self, she just knew it would get some press. Boring and greedy.

this is the reason she is on top never ever to backdown she sticks to her points and ideas for over 30 years , consistency is something many artist or peopple dont have , congrats madonna on having no fear !!!

nasty whore. and they didn't get arrested for speaking bad about putin, they got arrested for crashing a church service, disrupting everyone, and reading an anit putin poem in the church. Big difference. You make it sound as if they said "we don't like him", and then went to jail. Way to falsely stir up drama…again.

Any band waggon will do, eh Madge? Enjoy your millions, u exhibitionist you

Yeah. Saw the rude video of this group crashing a church service and acting obnoxious. There are times and places to do things and what they did looked totally disrespectful and obnoxious. Based on that no wonder they were locked up and pissed a lot of people off.

  12. 12

LOL would love to see how "tolerant" Madonna would be if some aholes crashed her concert and disrupted her show. I wonder if she would get on stage and praise them for artistic expression and no censorship etc…. The answer to that is HELL NO. Talk about hypocrisy.

Re: Snookietoes – They could get a decade in prison u moron! putin called them to be treated lightly and a fine but the priests have been forcinf the court to put them away.even yoko ono and sting spoke out and other russian celebs who support putin are shocked by this.the verdict will clearly show the influence of orthodox christians in russian politics.there is a bigger picture here

Re: dark troll – The length is too long but as far as whether they should have done it there in the first place is quite obvious. Hopefully they will not come down too hard on them but regardless the location they chose was pretty stupid. BTW I could give a crap about Sting or other entertainers putting their 2 cents in. So sick of the public elevating celebrities into God like status. They are no better than the average Joe.

Why is Madonna trying so hard to be relevant? I"m a fan too!!! But gee, funny she never did this stuff before unless kabala & adopting kids count? I think this is just a way for her to into the press in a positive way which is cool if she is sincere…

Re: Snookietoes – Please shut up. you are truly an idiot and only further confirm that with every post. The length of time they want to lock them up (7 years) is exactly why Madonna is supporting them, MORON! It's an overly excessive punishment that attacks freedom of speech. They may have made a mistake in the venue they chose to carry out their act, but they should have been fined and reprimanded. This is the church's way of shutting down anyone that does not agree with their beliefs. Please gain some intelligence before you bash the people truly making a difference in the world. What do you do to make the world a better place, you tool!

Re: alec haas – whatever dude. Freedom of speech includes varied opinions. If you cross a busy highway late at night in dark clothes chances are you will get hurt or possibly die from being hit. There is nothing wring with protesting etc… And freedom of speech. There IS something wrong with it when it imposes and disrupts others. Of all the places they could have protested to include OUTSIDE of the church and they CHOSE a bad place. Not judging it just making an observation. And the only moron here is you for getting all worked up.if you look I'm not the only one who said this.

Re: Snookietoes – you're validating your ignorant comments by what others say on Perezhilton? Way to think for yourself. You realize half the people posting on this board are teenagers. Way to back up your claims from such a relevent resource, lol. Keep going. Dig your intellectual hole deeper

Re: hoochpit – so someone should go to jail for 9 years for crashing a church service?

Re: Alec haas – Obviously you live in the USA when laws are more lenient. Other countries have insanely stricter laws. What you feel comfortable doing in the USA will not have the same results in other laws should you be caught. That is just a fact that Americans tend to forget. Use be glad you live where you can get a slap on the wrist. The reality is other countries don't often play that game. I hope those girls make out okay but that is the sad reality. Not sure what they were thinking would happen but that's just it they didn't think. And I am done with this post. Don't waste you time responding cause I won't see it.

"It's an overly excessive punishment that attacks freedom of speech"
Except Freedom of Speech doesn't apply to the people in Russia. We get it, Alex, you're a Madonna fan, and my guess is you probably wouldn't have heard of nor gave a shit about the whole situation had Madonna not got involved.

Re: Jess – you're right, I wouldn't have known about it had Madonna not shed light on it. EXACTLY why what she did was important. If you paid attention to the media, you would know that Madonna herself didn't know about it until shortly after she arrived to Russia. The world Is huge. You are just backing up the fact that she should be doing exactly what she's doing. Shedding light on issues around the world

" If you paid attention to the media."
When did I say don't paid attention to the media? I actually do pay attention to the media; it's kind of my job. That's why I've known about this long before Madonna. However, my point is not her shedding light to rest of the world, not like she's the only one doing it. It's the feigned interest in the matter from some of her fans.

Re: mattyvoyager – and which artist of famous people doesn't know that by standing for somebody would get them press?? bono? angelina? lady gaga? they all do it for press yess, but that doesn't mean they don't make a change, a slight one but they do more than any of us reading, dissing or prasing

Re: Jess – i have to dissagree with you here, cause i know many people who weren't madonna fans and knew about this situation through her, and asked what the fuck is she doing there, why is she doing it, what happened there, the gay get arrested fro what?? etc. not everybody is like you who reads the news and investigates remember that.

  26. 26

wtf !? ppl are actually paying money to see her perform this shity version of like a virgin ? lol she does look like a fairground stripper…that performance was chessy
