As if this whole situation couldn't be any more tragic.

Amy Winehouse's ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, is currently on life support and in a medically-induced coma after overdosing on heroin a week after being released from prison, and according to his mother, Georgette, his relapse was brought on when he came across old text messages from the deceased singer, asking if she could be the godmother to his 15 month old son Jack.

She reveals:

"He had messages on his phone from Amy which he only got recently. He didn't have the phone in prison and he picked up messages from her when he was released. She said she wanted to be Jack's godmother. The grief for Amy started again. I fear he may have been trying to take his own life. If he pulls through it may be two months before he is discharged. The worrying thing is if he then goes back to his substance misuse. Next time he won't make it, there is no doubt about that."

Sadly, we're more concerned about his surviving this whole ordeal.

Addiction truly is such a horrific, awful disease, and we imagine that the last thing Amy would want to see would be that it take the life of someone for whom she cared so deeply - especially with such a young child.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to him, his family, and loved ones.

Keep fighting, Blake.

Oh please. Let's use Amy Winehouse as an excuse for this fuckwad's selfishness. He made a choice, and his drug habit was more of a priority to him than his kid. It's HIS fault he is where he is, and you're enough of a liberal homo to make excuses for him.

No. His overdose was caused by taking too much drugs.

Why didn't the 12-Step religious cult's "HIGHER POWER" stop him?

"his mother, Georgette, his relapse was brought on when he came across old text messages from the deceased singer" what complete and utter horseshit. He started taking drugs again because HE WANTED to. The terms relapse and slip are EXCUSE words. both carry the conotation that he is innocent, it wasn't his fault, momma's just making excuses for him. It's tough enough to be honest about yourself, momma lying for you is just that much worse.

Okra Panfry's Bucket-O-Wings says ,,,"Why didn't the 12-Step religious cult's "HIGHER POWER" stop him?",,,,,, That is why you are still drunk, you want it DONE FOR YOU, you want a gift with no work on your part. Regardless of your spiritual beliefs you have free will. You have to choose to be sober, ain't no gifts bitch. your one note song is still boring as shit, go get that $9.99 1/2 gal vodka, suck down 1000mg's of oxy and put us out of your misery. please.

I guess I'm the only one aside from Perez that feels sorry for the guy. I think he truly loved Amy and reading those texts could have caused him to go off the deep end. Yes, he started doing drugs in the first place. However, lots of people experiment with drugs in their youth and no one goes in saying, "I want to become a junkie!" Unfortunately, some people develop an addiction instead of just experimenting and moving on. I was one of the lucky ones who experimented with a few things, never got addicted and moved on. However, I think anyone in his position, if they truly loved the deceased person they just saw text messages from for the first time, would want to find a way to drown their sorrows. That, or maybe you all are super-humans with no emotions who don't ever feel despair because you are so effing perfect and there are only a few of us people with feelings left. Whatever. Don't join my fan club, then, and continue to troll the web.

Being a drug addict is HARD but it is ultimately the taking of too much drugs did this. Addicts are often surrounded by people that will even defend them but TRUTH is most addicts are unable to handle life well. I have been clean for 3 months I know I am fresh out of it but with new promising drugs such as vivitrol which is an opiate/alcohol blocker it is an EXTRA crunch for those that understand addiction and want to stay clean. I understand the cost for one singe shot of this "miracle" drug is expensive but it truly is wonderful. I even heard the saying a lot "those who want help have to want to HELP themselves" IS TRUE!!!! My experience was a bit hard to see because I am successful but IT IS NOT UNIQUE. Drug addiction affects all walks of life. I also find it BULLSHI that some people that actually NEED opiates are not longer allowed to have it because drug addicts ruin it for everyone (literally). I think a doctor shouldn't have to worry about his license being stripped all because it is NOT fair as addicts are good at lying. Sorry for the long post.
