Russell Brand Embraces Willy Wonka And The Beatles For Olympics Closing Ceremony
Russell Brand is the Walrus!
The British comedian represented his country during the London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony on Sunday night by channeling Willy Wonka and The Beatles.
He took us into a realm of Pure Imagination by singing (above) a few lines from the 1971 musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's fantasy novel before segueing into a so-so cover of I Am The Walrus.
Not bad, but we would have loved to see his alter ego, Aldous Snow, cover the song with a bit more of a rock star edge.
Or maybe he could have just performed Bangers, Beans & Mash. Ha!

He is so GROSS looking!
I thought he was really good. The whole show was great. But I wonder why they left out the Stones and Elton John?
I love Russell. I love hearing I am the Walrus anyday. Fun performance. And, yes, a little more of a rock edge would have been good.
Russell did a terrific job of changing the mood of the ceremony to a whimsical world of wonder. His entrance was billiant and a good intro to the non-sensical song I am the walrus to be followed by a giant octopus. He made it a great transition in a very creative way.
If you listen to the Beatles version of the song I am the walrus, it is not a song that is meant to put your singing abilities on display. It is just a weird song in keeping with the mood. Russell is brilliant.
No he isn't!!
Lip-synch.
Re: rosebud99 – Right. Why not the Stones? (I don't really care about Elton John, but yes, why did they snob him?)
He was awesome!!!!! Is there anything this man can't do?
I love him! He's the only famous person I really care about. He was the highlight of the closing ceremony!
Re: purplesprings – yeah he cant act, cant sing , does not in anyway shape or form have any talent . he is about as funny as herpes
