And the plot thickens…
While we were pretty surprised by reports yesterday that Kristen Stewart had been dropped from the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, we weren't clear on whether or not director Rupert Sanders - whose affair with the actress led to the creative upheaval - would ALSO be out of a job!
Well now, new details are emerging about the possible new direction for the franchise, and it appears that Universal Studios is leaning toward KEEPING Sanders around and re-tooling the film to be a spin-off, focused solely on Chris Hemsworth's Huntsman!
Insiders reveal that all of the recent drama surrounding the Twilight actress has certainly slowed down the project's trajectory, and that David Koepp, who was hired in April to script the sequel, has been now let go in order to figure out what exactly should be done with this whole mess!
However, just because Sanders hasn't OFFICIALLY signed on doesn't mean he is not in the good graces of the big wigs!
In fact, Universal has just hired him, as well as Huntsman producers Joe Roth and Palak Patel, to reunite for the big screen adaptation of the Dean Unkerfer book 90 Church: The True Story Of The Narcotics Squad From Hell…which we think is VERY telling!
This is apparently a pretty big project, so we imagine they want to see how he does here before securing his involvement with…well, we guess just The Huntsman!
Either way, we can gather that one thing is definitely for certain:
KStew is no longer the fairest of them all!
