Jay Leno Takes MASSIVE Pay Cut To Save Tonight Show Jobs; 20-25 Still Laid Off!

| Filed under: Jay LenoBusiness Blitz

jay leno tonight show jobs laid off

There's been a bloodbath at NBC!

Some of the network's insiders are whispering about a recent job massacre at The Tonight Show, where 20-25 employees lost their jobs!

Show-host Jay Leno was said to have taken a HUGE pay cut to save as many jobs as he could, but obviously it wasn't enough to spare everyone!

Even producers had to choose between pay cuts or lost jobs! Dayum…

But why??? It's not like their ratings suck over there!!

Still, an NBC insider says:

"I don’t think ad sales are off. I just think the people who bought this company, Comcast, wants to go through everything at NBC and get their money back. It’s hard to go through those kinds of cuts. It’s more a network issue than a late-night issue. And I would say that Jay doesn’t get credit for digging out of a gigantic hole every single night. He’s a very valuable guy to NBC and someday everyone will understand that. He does a great job."

To everyone who lost their stable income, we feel for you! We know condolences don't pay the bills, though… so best of luck in finding another gig!

And snaps for Jay! Obviously he can survive the slash in his paycheck (apparently his new salary is $27-$30M on top of the $15-$20M he makes working appearances), but still… not everyone would be so generous!

I hope stuttering John was fired. Leno is scum, the "taking a paycut to save jobs" story does not seem very realistic considering Leno's shady actions in the past.

  2. 2

So typical of Jay. His 25 million salary and 15 million on the side is OK with him? He has no children and 1000 cars and has been putting away millions for years. He could drop his salary just 5 million and save all this staff jobs. But Jay is good at screwing over staff, Conan, and Letterman. Plus, he isn't even funny.

Who even watches the Tonight Show anymore? Jay is a complete joke. He is the most fake person I have ever met and was known for backstabbing people long before the whole Conan thing happened. He could have taken an even larger pay cut and probably saved everyone's jobs. He's a disgusting human being. By the way, I heard he had to take a pay cut or they were going to cancel the show, so…it's not like he did it out of the goodness of his heart.

    Hey, Jay!
I have an idea. How about having Moochelle Obama on, as a guest again, and let her preach to us about eating right…afterall, we are too stoopid to figure it out.
This worked for Oprah so well.
Ever wonder why Moochelle Obama keeps beating the drum on more expensive school lunches?
I'll tell you - perishable food is maybe the most difficult to track.
Two weeks after the fact, it's almost impossible to tell if it ever existed or not.
Quite different from pouring a concrete bridge.
It's another Progressive's honey hole to raid.

Time to retire Jay, after your actions in the past, you can just suck it!!

  6. 6

Jay, all you had to do was follow the Johnny Carson model of not insulting half your audience, so everyone will tune in and watch your show.
You push Michelle Obama who pushes her Commie values on us, and you wonder where your ratings went?
A culture that redefines food choices as moral issues will demonize the people who don’t share the tastes of the priest class.
Gold medalist Gabby Douglas gets demonized for eating an egg McMuffin from Moochelle?
A culture that elevates eating to some holistic act of ethical self-definition – localvore, low-carbon-impact food, fair trade, artisanal cheese – will find the casual carefree choices of the less-enlightened, as an affront to their belief system.
Leave it to Americans to invent a Puritan strain of Epicurianism.
These people are not well-meaning do-gooders who have just gone a bit too far.
They don’t mean well, they mean to be in control.
They are power-fetishists, drunk on the joys of bossing the little people around.
They should be ashamed of themselves, but shame — like taxes — is for the little people.

Hey Assholes at NBC, Jay Leno had the #1 show, with the highest ratings, BEFORE you decided to move him, and give whiney untalented and unfunny Conan Jay's job! You guys couldn't be more stupid! Now you're blaming Jay? Blame jeff Zucker!

Re: luvs2hustle – relax neidermayer. would it hurt to try to get people to eat healthier than the cobstant shit fat americans throw down.
if we all ate ate better, we d certainly help health care costs from rising.
no one s making fat lzy red necks like you eat anything. just good suggestions to live a better life.
you re the kind of fuck face we all hope eats lots of crap and dies real soon.
and how does any of that have anything to do with that shit show with that tool leno.
yes, two appearances by mrs obama has really driven down ratings (fyi, it was the highest rated monday since february)
go back to watching glenn beck
    jay leno sucks

Considering that he has been grossly overpaid for years, it's no big deal for him to take a pay cut. He works one hour a day, has all sorts of time off during the year and gets a bloated and ridiculous salary. What's he going to do with his money anyway when he kicks the bucket, give it to a cat sanctuary? (actually not a bad idea)…..btw he still gets too much even after the cut.

That just shows you what a stand up guy Mr. Leno is! Which unfortunately he rarely gets the credit for!

Re: Lady Who Bores Me – Wow, you obviously don't know what humour is. JAY SUCKS ASS.

Re: stickrat – Just a suggestion to eat better? Kind of like the stories I read about elementary school kids having their packed lunches from home taken away because they weren't deemed healthy enough and replaced with some school shit? That doesn't come off as merely suggesting a better diet to me.

He should have agreed to being paid $20m and saved everyone's jobs. He only did this to make himself look good. Asshole.

Jay is a hack, ok a rich hack. Maybe Jay will let Studdering John be the announcer again. Wait maybe Studdering John received a pink slip.

  15. 15

That's one of the things I admire so much about Jay Leno. He's not your typical celeb who only care about themselves, and/or their careers. There's not too many who'd be willing to take a pay cut in order to help anyone - in or out of the business. Politicians should take a cue from him. Maybe this country wouldn't be in such bad shape if they were as selfless as Jay.

ahahahaaaaa ahahahaa aha ahahahaaaaahhhaa…..Leno and NBC suck. So who cares.

"Tonight" won't save "Today!" Firing Ann Curry is why NBC is going belly up! NBC is cutting jobs of middle class workers unfairly. Tonight Show employees should file a class action against NBC without delay' NBC could save at least $50 MILLION dollars Today by firing Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Jim Bell, and Steve Capus. Then the "little people" at NBC will be anle to hold their families and lives together. Too bad NBC doesn't have a heart. By the way, who does PR for NBC? They should be fired too!

If jay "popeye" leno really cared he would have taken a 20million pay cut to save more jobs. he should be able to live ok with a salary of10 million a yr.
