NBC Says Al Roker's 'Under The Bus' Comment Was NOT About Ann Curry

A likely story…?

Our mouths DROPPED when we heard Al Roker's "under the bus" dig at Matt Lauer last Thursday and thought it was most certainly a reference to Ann Curry.

Apparently, we and everyone else watching were wrong though.

NBC says they were simply engaging in fun on-air banter and point out the fact that the two have joked about throwing someone "under the bus" at least 27 times throughout the last two years.

If that's true, then what was up with Lauer's tense reaction (above) in which he scolded, "Mr. Roker…"?

Furthermore, if that really was just their regular banter, then these guys need to come up with some new material!

    It's time for Matt to go. Bring in Lester Holt and bring back Ann Curry as a team. The NBC ratings will go sky high and NBC could use that right now. After more than 20 years watching the Today show we have switched to GMA. Matt is over his head.

    Don't watch much TV but I did see GMA 3 weeks ago and they were really good. Have not watched Today since I was in college (I am 60).

    What surprises me is how NBC keeps sending off the females and keeps the man, Matt. After numerous replacements of females one would think they would have a clue and see hey, maybe it is the man not the women. Replace Matt and bring back Ann or Viera and bring a new guy on and watch how fast their rating improve. Matt is sanctimonious, Al is boring, and good Lord do not being Ryan Seacrest in as a replacement. Honestly, a new man, someone hunky with some real humor and intelligence would be a breath of fresh air.

    Ive watched The today show for 40 years….I now watch Good Morning America, they are a breath of fresh air in the morning! Matt Lauer is so arrogant, and Savannah is boring. Big mistake NBC, bring back Ann, and get rid of Lauer…..by the way, I found that many of my co-workers have made the "morning" switch!

    They should have never let Amy Robach go and put her in the slot. Ann was ok, but not just right. Amy was great.
