The corporations have taken over they buy the unsold tickets and give them away. A record reaches platinum etc by being ordered by a store and not actual copies sold but they never do retract that even when there are thousands of copies unsold. The people you have seen come out in the business largely over the lasst 15 years are all payola creeps and the real artists are still out here but because they aren't stupid enough to sign a record deal you will never see them unless you look for them. They are all being copied terribly and poorly at that.
