Watch Kirk Cameron Weigh In On Todd Akin And 'Legitimate Rape'

| Filed under: TV NewsMedia MinutePolitik

If you haven't been living under a rock…or a place with no access to the internet, newspapers or television, then you already know all about Rep. Todd Akin's views on "legitimate rape" and abortion.

In case you're just tuning in, the Congressman is currently running for Missouri's Senate seat and went on television to declare that — from what he understands "from doctors" — it's really rare for a woman to get pregnant after being raped.

Ya see, as long as it's "legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

While it sounds like he watched the movie Teeth a few too many times or maybe thinks the female uterus is armed with booby traps that eliminate any trespassing sperm, it turns out he simply "misspoke."

But now, it's someone else's turn to put their two cents in on the issue. Check out the video (above) to watch Kirk Cameron shared with CNN his DEFENSE of the controversial politician.

It's nice to know that Kirk Cameron doesn't believe there is "any kind of okay rape," but a little disappointing that he couldn't take the subject anywhere past his theologically-inspired views on abortion. At least he didn't bash the gays this time!

gee no one complained when BJ Bill Clinton actually raped a woman…and no one call for Ted Kennedy to step down after he killed Mary Jo….
What a double standard…it's all BS

Rape is rape…Except when it’s commited by Roman Polanski, huh Whoopi?

  3. 3

Todd Akin, you're a distraction and we could lose taking the Senate because of you and your self-inflicted wound, when you shot yourself in the foot and mouth.

This is bigger than you…do the right thing and resign.

It wasn't "just 2 words˝ that he misspoke. It was the whole stupidity of his argument. People aren't just annoyed the the "legitimate rape" part. They are annoyed with his entire speech about rape and pregnancy. He did not accidently spew all that nonsense, he knew what he was saying. He is just back peddling because he is going to lose so many votes. Not just from democrats, but republicans too. This guy is done, the end.

Re: Esin Emko – The "victim" in Bill Clinton's story was inconsistent with her story and she was discredited several times. You can't really know if he did that when she comes forward 20-25 years after the fact. Lot's of powerful men have committed rape but a lot of powerful men have also been victims of false accusations. About Ted Kennedy though, he is incredibly responsible for her death and basically got away with murder.

I don't know why everyone is upset with Todd Akin and only Todd Akin. What he said is the official stance of the Republican party and their legion of teabaggers. Why any women or anyone who cares about women would vote Republican is beyond me. Vote for your own interests, people! If you aren't an old, healthy, bigoted, wealthy, Anglo-Saxon man, why would you side with them?

Who the F does this guy thing he is? Legitimate rape? That is honestly just appalling. I've had priests argue to me why rape victims should have their babies and not abort them, but to those men I say it's none of your business! Shut your mouth.

PEOPLE NEED TO STOP CARING WHAT KIRK CAMERON HAS TO SAY!!!! HE IS NO LONGER A RELEVANT ACTOR OR RELEVANT ANYTHING. HE'LL SPEW THE SAME OLD BORING BULLSHIT AS LONG AS HE'S INVITED TO DO SO. Just let him and his church followers (or whatever) be miserable together.

Jen, you're misguided in who the boogyman is.

The Dems official policy is killing millions of babies up to the day it is born at 9 months.
    -
In fact Libs and Progressives revere, Margaret Sanger, first in opening the abortion mills, mostly to kill off Black babies, at the turn of the last century.
    -
The Dems own, 'The War on Women'.
Clinton is the keynote speaker at the Dem Convention and how many women has he assaulted and raped?
    -
Romney and Ryan love their wives and lead a life that most women would be honored to have as their husband and role model.

I don't care what KC says and the man was repeating what he had been told. I have heard the same thing from females in the medical field that are pro-choice. I think it is a old tale that has legs….

    Re: luvs2hustle
So the Dems own the war agains women by what exactly? Letting them make their own choices? Now I don't support late term abortion at all, but letting women make their own choice based on their own beliefs is somehow wrong? Personally I could never get an abortion but who am I to try and take away that decision, that choice for millions of other women?

Re: luvs2hustle – When did Roman Polanski or WHOOPI serve as members of US congress/run for US senate you loon? This is what the house of tealiban has been busy with since they took over congress. Not the economy… uteri patrol.

  13. 13

Rep Paul Ryan - Romneys VP pick co-sponsered an extreme anti-abortion bill with Akin. HB-3 includes a 'personhood amendment' which attempts to name zygotes citzens with rights…and the bill attempts to re-define rape. Majority of todays GOP think it, Akin said it aloud.

Kirk Cameron didn't bash the gays last time…he answered a question posed to him about his beliefs on gay marriage. Remember Perez the Saint, you don't believe in bullying anymore.

"I would like to know what Kurt Cameron has to say on this issue," said no one ever.

Glad I'm a Moderate and don't claim a political affiliation but they are making the Republican Party look bad. With that said I know two victims of pregnancy by rape victims. #RepublicanFacepalm

Re: luvs2hustle – Christ lay off the kool-aid and tin foil hats. I'll list to pro-lifers when they stop decrying the public assistance for children. They only care about those kids until they're born then they begrudge them eduction, health care, and food.

I live in Wisconsin and I just want to say to those of you claiming Paul Ryan does stand up for women's right….he does not. Last year a bill was made law which lets women be paid less for equal work. Ryan voted for it. The only excuse they have for making it is that it will save the state money, which is true, but sad.
