Two Maryland Teens Killed From Train Derailment!

Oh this is just so tragic!

19-year-old college students Rose Mayr and Elizabeth Nass were killed Tuesday, when a train carrying mass amounts of coal derailed around midnight (train pictured above).

The two teens were sitting on the edge of a railway bridge above Ellicot City, Maryland, with their backs to the tracks, and were apparently tweeting moments before the freak accident occurred.

One tweeted picture shows a girl's feet dangling above the road below, with the caption "Levitating," and another tweet states:

"Drinking on top of the Ellicott City sign with @ r0se_petals."

Apparently, when the train cars derailed, Rose and Elizabeth — who were both set to start their junior year of college this fall — were fatally submerged in coal.

There is no word yet as to WHY the train derailed, but an investigation conducted by the National Transportation Safety Board is currently underway.

Please please please people, stay away from train tracks, it is NEVER safe to get close to fast-moving, giant, heavy machinery.

So so unbelievably sad! Our hearts go out to Rose and Elizabeth's families and loved ones.

Sad but there are trespassing signs within a certain distance of train property for a reason.

Re: sick_girl – Personally I've never seen any trespassing signs by those train tracks. It really doesn't help that all you have to do to get up there is go up a flight of steps.

Unfortunately a lot of people go up on the railway bridge especially while drinking. Main Street in Ellicot City has a number of popular bars. I know plenty of people who have gone up there regularly. There's even a staircase on one side of it. Fortunately they're looking into how to make the bridge inaccessible.

Age gap dating is popular nowadays. Many younger women are looking to date older guys, mainly because older guys are relatively more successful in career and understand better how to treat their women. c_o_u_g_a_r_l_o_v_i_n_g_c_o_m is a focused community for older men dating younger women. If you are ready for a new adventure, give them a try!

I knew one of the girls. She was smart and sweet and had such a bright future. Regardless of the way she passed away, people should stop picking on her and her friend. She was young and was doing something many of the locals do all the time. Rather than focus on the way she died, we should be focusing on the incredible life she lived.

I work for the railroad and this is very common people need to learn that trains are not toys and should not be taken lightly i deal with people committing suicide and stupid parents trying to beat the trains and never make it. keep in mind from the edge of a bridge to the train there is an arms length distance they are going up to 80miles an hour and they cant see you.
