Tom Cruise has already stated that he "will really miss" his "dear friend" Tony Scott and so will fans of the duo's 1986 classic, Top Gun.
It turns out they were actively working on the sequel!
Scott actually spent the last days of his life in preparation for the project. According to sources, both the director and Cruise toured a naval air station in Nevada last Friday to research the movie!
This only adds more mystery as to why such a successful man with what seems like so much to live for would decide to take his own life.
Whatever the answer to that difficult question is, we may never actually know, but probably don't need to anyway.
We have no idea what the plot of the Top Gun sequel would be, but it's been in development at Paramount. Studio president Adam Goodman had previously explained:
"Jerry Bruckheimer would produce, with Tony Scott returning to direct. All parties are moving ahead. We've hired Peter Craig to write the script."
Wonder if they'll decide to continue moving ahead or not. Do U think they should?
