Shooting In New Jersey Leaves 3 People Dead!

Oh no!! A gun related incident has left three dead in Old Bridge, NJ!

According to reports, a shooting occurred around 4am Friday morning at the Pathmark grocery store in Old Bridge, N.J., a suburb about 25 miles from New York.

The 23 year-old gunman was apparently a recently hired employee of the supermarket, and after reportedly getting in an argument with a fellow coworker in the early hours of the morning when the store was closed, he left to obtain a handgun and an AK47 from his car.

Once employees realized what the man was about to do, they locked the store's front doors, which the shooter then reportedly shot to pieces.

The former Marine, who allegedly has a history of depression and mental illness, then proceeded to enter the establishment and shot two people, eventually turning the gun on himself.

The shooter is among the three dead. One victim is an 18 year-old woman and no details have been released about the second.

The gunman was also reported to be wearing body armor and camouflage.

So, so incredibly sad. The recent increase in gun violence in this country is absolutely terrifying.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the loved ones of the people involved in this tragedy.

I'm not so sure it's an increase in the violence as much as it is an increase in the media covering it. Setting up shop huh for when the POTUS takes our guns away? He can point to all these instances….

Re: Mimi the Magnificent – You Americans are so terrifyingly dumb: you think it is normal to own a gun. The ONLY reason a gun is made is to KILL people with it.

It is absolutely an increase in violence. I grew up there and that is not the norm at all and not just a case of the media covering it. This is not a violent town in any way shape or form.

As long as everyone feels the need to carry a weapon with them, this is going to occur. Why the eff would you be carrying an AK47 in your car? WTF??? This is 2012, why do you need to carry a weapon anyway? Good Lord, do something with the idiots that are also known as Americans (you created them….for what purpose…still is to be known!!).

Re: overthere – Bother yourself with the issues in Europe (if that's where you're from) and butt out of U.S. issues. Brevik killed how many and only received 21 years? While this guy will receive a lengthy sentence. What's terrifyingly dumb is that you believe you have the authority to speak on our nation. Check your privilege..

Yup, that's what you get when everyone is allowed to 'Bear Arms."

Funny how the reports of people who SAVE lives using their firearms is NEVER in the press. You have to go looking for it. Media isn't biased…

Btw, I have an AK-74 & an AR-15 (not to mention a hunting rifle & a hand gun), but I don't go around shooting at people.

Re: bethie – Old Bridge in general may not be a violent town but LT is and if you grew up in OB like I did you would know how unsafe it is in LT. (London Terrace).

Why are such killings taking place frequently in this country, & this one is too close to home for me as my children, grandsons, greatgrandson, nieces, & cousins all live close to the area. All I can say is that we are not checking out our employees thoroughly enough. And, in regards to the military connections to this case, our government is not giving better psychiatric care to soldiers with a mental history, and War very well the cause. However, 1 of the weapons is not military issue, I recall it being a weapon in Nam used by the Viet Cong, and AK47 assault weapon made in Russia sent to Nam, so where did this one come from. Was this guy in a warzone where he could very well have bought it on the black market, or even under such circumstances, sadly, also here in the U.S.? Back in the 1960s soldiers would smuggle home such weaponry as war souveniers by breaking them down and sending home in footlockers, suitcases, packages, all sent separately . Be great if cops checked this out in case others are on the back street sellers menues of black marketeering so another incident like this does not occur again…

Re: overthere – No it is not, I used to go hunting for birds (mostltiy dove and geese) with my late husband and father in law. I have never shot a person but would not hesitate to if threatened, as a 64 year old retired widow).

Re: overthere – Well duh!! What are you going to do when some asshole breaks in your house and threatens you and your family? Cower in your closet and call the police. Yeah, that should save you. Moron.

how horrible this is they need to rehab these guys before they get to come back to society…terrible

They desperately need to implement a mental health database. It seems like the MAJORITY of these people that do this are mentally off or have had previous histories with things of this nature.

Instead of doing something stupid, illogical, irrational and radical like banning guns..We should take a couple steps to hopefully reduce it. Depending on state its generally a 3/5/7 or 10 day waiting period. During that time they run a criminal background check. Well we need a system that also runs their name in a database for mental health problems. If hes ever been on one of those lockdowns (britney spears), ever been prescribed any type of anti-psych meds or he has ever been to a shrink it should pop up informing them. When getting a gun you should have to sign over your right voiding the "doctor/patient" confidentially law. That way when its ran and shows up you visit a shrink they can look at the shrinks notes.

We have always had shit tons of guns, we have also had tons of armed people. But this stuff is starting to happen more and more. Why? It most definitely isn't because of guns. Something has changed. Maybe perhaps its now a fad, and the media overexposes? But then again, it always happens you just never see it on the news. Apparently this is the whole "anti gun" bandwagon now where biased new sites continue posting this stuff.

As much as I love my country, we are in love with guns and violence. It's gross and disgusting. I would never want a gun, but am starting to feel like I need to have one to defend my family. It's inbred in the culture, we are a war fighting nation getting involved in the worlds problems and not addressing our own. We are declining as a nation because of this, we waste millions in military and don't take care of those defending our country. We have soldiers returning home mamed and mentally destroyed. If we are not going to help make our soldiers whole when they return home, then we need to keep them home protecting us here.
