As we've seen in the first teaser, Zach Snyder seems to have followed Christopher Nolan's lead by making The Man Of Steel much more serious and somber in comparison to previous incarnations of Superman.
Henry Cavill is the latest Hollywood hunk to suit up in the iconic costume and has confirmed that the movie will indeed take a "very realistic" approach to telling the story we all know and love.
"What I can say is that it's a modernisation of the character and a very realistic view of one, obviously, very fantastic individual. It's an unreal situation, but it's approached from a very practical viewpoint. We wanted to make the character easier to identify with."
So basically…they wanted to mimic the success of Nolan's Batman trilogy. Ha!
But who wouldn't?
Comic book fans have spoken and they seem to prefer the darker tone that Nolan set with The Dark Knight. While the director is primarily responsible for pulling that off, Cavill has a lot of pressure on his shoulders as well. While speaking about "doing justice" to the classic comic book character, the 29-year-old explained:
"There are a lot of people relying on me to do this well. I gladly accept that responsibility, and it’s a great one to have because it’s a wonderful opportunity. I don't let the pressures get to me because that's going to hinder my performance and, therefore, let people down. So I choose to ignore the pressure side of it and focus on doing justice to Superman."
And while he focuses on being Superman, we'll be focusing on how good his hot bod looks in that blue suit!
Can't wait to see it in action on the big screen next summer!
